Am I the only one who doesnt want Sanchez? £50 million for a player who we could get for nowt in a year, who is 29, who might lead to possible the sale of Aguero. Hes a quality player no doubt, was a quality player when he was at Udinese and turned us down, but makes no sense to me.

Your post would make a lot of sense to a club like Arsenal that puts profits over success on the pitch. For a club like City, however, success on the pitch is everything. If by spending 70mill it increases the chances of us winning trophies this year then City would consider it money well spent. So City would rather spend, which they are doing and Arsenal would rather sell their best players for profit, which they also are doing.
