Alexis Sanchez

Hope this is just City calling Arsenal's bluff. Still feel like getting Sanchez could be the difference between a very good season and an exceptional one.

Great to see our club proudly displaying their bollocks despite an apparent lack of them amongst our fan base.

This will prove the lads determination to play in Blue.

Do you really think we are the same side as we were when we signed those two?

We are a fantastic side now but I think we were the current Prem champions (correct me if I am wrong) when we signed them, so we should have been negotiating from a position of power back then too.

Last year we made £1m profit. Current year, there's lots of amortization and transfer fees to be paid. I have no problem if we decide not to go overboard for a 29 year old. Our key policy is to buy younger players who will
hold us in good stead for years or with good resale value, if necessary. Also, we will need to replace Fern and, probably, VK. We can't have it all. Harry Kane might cost a bob or two!

£10m on this and every transfer in the future, look at the money those gimps had to pay for Lukaku in the summer.

That applies in some cases but not here. £30 million is a great deal for a player we offered £60 million for 5 months ago. Nobody will see that as overpaying.

The bonuses and salaries being referred to are a completely different matter.

And a stand on them exactly right.

Its clear that Alexis' agent's demands are going up big time in the summer.

Maybe no transfer fee will have to be paid that time to any club but huge agent fee and signing on fee bonus will be doubled or tripled compared to now. And they can really drag it out the whole summer making an even bigger saga around it.

So we may save 20-25m transfer fee in 6 months but you really think that amount not going to turn into higher wages/bonus/singing on fee/agents fee?

His agent is overplaying his hand by the looks of it.

I think if you go off the reports he wants a signing on bonus of £25m if he is to move now as he wants £35m in the summer when Alexis is free.

City know - as well as us - since when did signing on bonus’ start when a transfer fee has to be paid to a club as well as the agent getting his agents fee’s?

And as I have stated earlier, if Sanchez has told us that he only wants City, even if it means that he has to stay at Arsenal until the summer, City standing firm is 100% the correct play. What will be difficult to stomach is City playing hard ball and he ends up in a United shirt.
Yes, I get that and clearly in some ways it will be a blow if he signs for them but we can't base our behaviour in the transfer market on the whims of united or Sanchez just because he's suddenly had a weird change of tune having turned better clubs than united down for us already. We are in a position of strength. If Sanchez goes to them then I'm sure we will get someone good and more importantly younger in the summer. And I'm also fairly confident that mourinho will not get the best out of Sanchez the same as every other decent player he is currently ruining. Bottom line is, if Sanchez is prepared to do an about turn and sign for mourinho, let him.

What does Sanchez gain from going to United this window and not joining us in the summer?

This.

Joining the rags is a sideways step. Rejected PSG and Bayern and now he signs for the rags??? Can’t see it at all, they won’t win anything this season and play negative football, I will be shocked if he goes to them. He can join any club he wants in the summer and would he really choose the rags? Maybe 10 years ago but not today.

This is the way everyone looking at this situation with clear eyes should feel. It's just a matter of so many City fans not wanting to listen to rags chortling about getting over on City, especially (probably) after having chortled themselves about getting Sanchez with those same rags.
I understand but the truth of it is we already have to listen when it comes to how good pogba is and he’s the best player on the planet....they have the best player on the planet and the gap is larger then a football field in terms of quality

It would take a balls up of humongous proportions from Sanchez if he went to the rags.

I find this all very startling.

I don’t think he will but yes I would. We find out what’s truly important to Alexis either way. He chooses titles and success while playing under Pep who he obviously thinks highly of or more money. I wouldn’t want a guy who chooses money over success on the team anyway.
You wouldn't have wanted Yaya etc then?

Joining United wouldn't be like joining Stoke or something, they're always gonna be there and thete abouts for trophies. Not totally devoid of it. Yes, it'll be about money in the short term but a player wouldn't be throwing their career away.

Smacks of "Didn't want him anyway"..
