Allan Clarke on the current City team.

Sprake vs. Ederson - Eddie.

Reaney vs. Walker - Kyle.
Stones vs. Charlton - fucking laughable.
Dias vs. Hunter - Rúben.
Madeley vs. Aké/Gvardiol Nathan/Joško.

Rodri vs. Bremner - even more laughable.

Kdb vs. Giles - Kevin
Foden vs. Mick jones - walte

Silva vs. Lorimer - Bernardo
Grealish/Doku vs. Gray - Jack /Jérémy

Håland vs. Clarke just piss funny.

I remembered that dirty Leeds team without having to look up any of them.
Am I sensing a slight bias there?

;-)

He was Manager of the Leeds Team that had Terry Connor -their CF -the only Guy who came in our half the entire game only to lose 1-0 to a Kevin Reeves 89th minute winner. And he’s still bitter. He wasn’t saying all this in the 90’s when Leeds were splashing the Cash around under Risdale and spending literally thousands on Goldfish etc.
I was at that game, our spot was up the middle steps at the back of the Kippax and then a few steps down on the left. Great view, especially when Reeves smashed in that volley at the Platt Lane in the last minute. The word scenes springs to mind !

Anyone who genuinely agrees with him should watch 10 mins of any football game from the 1970s and try and repeat it with a straight face.

We'd be up 6-0 in 30 mins. The standards of fitness and performance are just miles ahead of what they were at this point.

Also, the idea that players back then were just so much tougher is bullshit. What do you genuinely think happens if you give a 1970s referee to Rodri and Ruben Dias? Hell, bring back De Jong and he'd carry a weapon in his bare hands on to the pitch.

For the culture buffs this quote from the opening line of the book The Go Between by LS Hartley fucks Allan Clarkes off

“the past is a foreign country they do different things there”

Sadly there were lots who held that view. Bernard Halford suggested it happen at Maine Rd too with City fans. Tommy Docherty thought Utd could do it as half time entertainment.

And they were the soft options.

Ken Bates wanted to electrocute them.

The Leeds team Clarke was in were an excellent team but were so often the bridesmaids. Ridiculous fixture pile ups and bad match officials decisions were partly to blame. So they won far less than they should have

So perhaps he’s bitter. Perhaps the match official in Paris in 1975 were City fans.
