Liverpools most recent policy has been not to sell players still with any talent to EPL clubs.
Would be a fantastic addition to the squad but honestly cant see it.
Alonso wants to go to Madrid simple as.
I'd suspect the clubs will reach a compromise over the fee as that seems to satisfy all parties, just think the red bindippers are trying to play hardball thats all.

Ok I recon it's a given that Xabi is off to Madrid, so I really think we should be going after Wesley Schnijder (sp haven't a bloody clue) he would be a great alternative to Ireland if we are struggling to create something, especially if Elano ends up leaving

Alonso

Says on sky transfer clockwatch that some papers today say that we may go for alonso along with chelsea. Probably not true, as papers never lie!!!
