Hi all, big MCFC fan from Baltimore checking in.

I started seriously following when I went abroad in 2005, and when I studied in London in 2009 I had a chance to see City play at Fulham!

I'll be honest, the ONLY reason I started following City was the seemingly tortured history they had and the fact that even as a football novice, I knew there was something not quite right about United.

Looking forward to the match this weekend! If anyone is coming to Baltimore there are a couple of excellent places to grab a beer in an area called Fells Point in downtown Baltimore, including a great place called "Horse You Came in On"

And don't worry, for those of you who have seen THE WIRE, it's not really like that here. :-)

there's + & - to dish and directv -

you get more football on directv - inc alllllll euro games europa and chumps in HD - downside FSC & FS+ are not HD. You also get Goltv which is awesome and has a few south american leagues, la liga and the german league.

Dish has FSC in HD but im pretty sure FS+ in SD. No goltv and no euro selection. Also Dish customer service is generally shit and pretty much everyone i know likes directv for its interface and features.

Well I heard just yesterday FSC & FS+ was going HD on DirecTV starting August 1st. So there you go- if you're still reading- get DirecTV.

Heard same pal, but they have taken their time with this have Direct, they sent the satelite up in March i believe.....

-- Mon Jul 26, 2010 8:28 pm --

I'm bringing one other blue, and plan to be drinking at Pickles from mid afternoon on, across from the stadium... http://www.picklespub.com/. I'll change plans if some Baltimore blues tell me there's another convenient meeting place.

Just to straighten this out...about Baltimore... we've been watching and rooting for City in this fair town for almost 6 years - and in that time - have seen far and few other Blues... so my friend Patrick and myself shot a video about City in Baltimore for ManCity and they posted it --

http://mcfc.co.uk/News/American-Pre-sea ... -MCFC-fans

There is only one bar that will have players, staff, and fans all congregate and that is Slainte in Fells point - slaintepub.com - - there should be about 5k blues in town (judging from the numbers we get from the tickets sold from England). Slainte will be packed and rocking the night before, the day of, and the night after -- I would suspect a great time with some great surprises. Check out the 3:35 second mark of the video... for info about the pub -- hope to meet many of you!

-- Tue Jul 27, 2010 12:52 pm --

Slainte - is where to meet man! Pickles is lame. There has only been one bar in this City that has supported the game for years and that's Slainte --- I wouldn't spend a nickle in Pickles and their opportunistic BS store front -- they never carry games, they have no idea about the sport in general -- and only benefit because of location - come over to Fells Point - (5$ cab ride) and drink with true fans! Slaintepub.com (just voted Baltimore best sports bar) --- pass the word around

Great vid! Will be heading there for sure.

so I'm in Philadelphia and ordered my AJ kit on the 23rd, got it today. Absolutely top-rate, thank you City!!

I remember a few seasons ago when I ordered my Robinho it took about 2.5-3 weeks to get here. Now I'll have the new kit in time for the Saturday Baltimore game.

you have made the right choice!

Indeed. Me and a friend chose City the summer before Thaksin's season in charge, and I can honestly say now that I follow City with more passion than any of the American sports teams I follow. If they lose on Saturday morning, it puts me in a sour mood for the rest of the weekend.

I also hate the rags more than I've hated any other rival team in the past.

good man. :)

I’m here in Motown (Detroit) and I have been a soccer fan since that Brummie git, Trevor Francis, became the first million dollar international transfer back in 1979 when he left Forest to join the Detroit Express.

I have been a mega City fan since about 1995. When I first heard Oasis, I decided that I was going to be a Man United fan like Liam and Noel. Thank goodness I had a good friend at the time who was a Blue (family still in Derbyshire) and she set me straight. I shudder to think that I was almost a filthy, arrogant, glory-hunting, prawn munching red.

Been through a lot with City in the last 15 years. You guys know all the ups and downs, yeah? These days I find myself checking the ESPN Soccernet or Bluemoon every 30 minutes to an hour to see if we have snatched up another transfer, haha. I still can’t get me head around this change. I’m still trying to decide if this means things are truly going to be different, or if we are going to lose to Blackpool in September before destroying Arsenal as per “Typical City” rules…

I have to chime in with a lot of the other Shermans on here – things are very different now in following City in the USA with Fox Soccer Channel or ESPN showing at least one City match every week. It sure beats using Ustream or whatever to find an internet feed. Lord knows how many times I sat through shyte feeds just to see a match. During last February’s Chelsea match, I jumped out of my seat in front of the television screaming like a loon when Carlos slotted in his penalty and my fiancé couldn’t help but laugh at how crazy it all looked.

I work as a brewmaster in a brewpub just outside Detroit, so I have met many, many English ex-pats in the last decade. The three to whom I have become closest are a Gooner, a Sunderland fan and a Filthy, Dirty, Horrible, Pathetic, Prawn Munching, Glory Hunting Red. We have certainly had some fun in those years and I have taken more than my share of abuse as a City fan. Now they are all constantly complaining that we are ruining the game with all these high-priced transfers and buying silverware. Not sure I agree with them. I seem to remember the Filthy, Dirty, Horrible, Pathetic, Prawn Munching, Glory Hunting Reds and Liverpool and Chelsea spending quite a bit of money on transfers in the past.

Speaking of my Brit friends, I would like to pose a question to all Brit Blues on here:

Is it ok to have a “second team”? My Gooner mate always tells me that second teams are a joke and that no true English footie fan does this. I ask this question because about 6 years ago or so, I met a Stokie on a musician’s fan message board and he turned me on to the ways of the Potteries. Stoke were in the Championship then and their ways seemed to mirror City’s (beat great teams – lose to Port Vale) so I made them my second team. I’m not going to stop cheering for Stoke and singing Delilah or whatever, I just want some good ammunition to use against my Gooner mate (who grew up in WATFORD but liked the red kit as a kid).

Anyway, love reading here and spend a bit of time on Bluemoon EVERY DAY. Looking forward to a great season ahead. Onward and Upwards!

CTID,

Tim in Detroit

I just got back from the NYC event ( I live in Illinois, USA). What a great time! To wit:

The ride from the Mad Hatter to the Subway Train was surreal. We had four double-decker buses (unless I was seeing one double) with rowdy Blues singing songs throughout lower Manhattan. There is no doubt New York knew City were there! I specifically remember the poor Rag Wanker that staggered out of a bar while we were on route and the WHO ARE YA he was bombarded with...by bus after bus.

The Mad Hatter lived up to its reputation...The bar was wall to wall Blue (okay, I did see one Scouser, but he was having fun too). After an introduction and the first beer was served, bartenders Diana and Kim remembered your name, your drink, and kept your tab. Megan ran her arse of on tables, as did all waitresses (Sorry for not catching all names),

What a great time to rub shoulders with Mike Summerbee. He never turned down a picture, and it was genuinely fun to be around him.

Jonesey and crew arranged for buses to take us directly to the Red Bulls match, and beers were provided! But the best was when the bus behind the one I was on got sidetracked, we pulled over on the major road we were on, and a busload of Blues lined up on the highway and took the piss. Right there. I laughed my arse off!

The games--well, Bellamy did have that one good rush 4 minutes into the first game.

What a great time! I have made so many friends on this trip--I will be seeing you all this season--working on arrangements now. I have kept emails, and will be writing soon..I am looking forward to Mary D's, Didsburg, The Nelson, City Road Inn, and Townley Pub crawl i will be doing very soon. Cheers!

^ All of this.

It was my first time in New York, and I had a fabulous time. A few long days for us - me and my old roommate from uni flew out from Omaha on the morning of the Sporting game, though, so I suppose that helped us get used to it right away - and City bar AJ were shit, but the craic at the Hatter was excellent.

Jim - You've got my email address; let me know what's going on with you. Not sure about the derby this season - I need to sort out shit on the job front, etc first - but that's not to say I'm not interested. Keep us up to date on that.

Also, for everyone, some photos I took from the weekend: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4 ... 566907a37e
