Possibly. I tend to lean towards he knew he was being let go at the end of the season. From the outside, it appears that you guys had several factions each pulling their own direction. You need a manager who is on the same page as the owner and that the owner will listen to even if he doesn't like it. I think for that reason Hiddink is your best option. Reports are that he and Abramovitch have a rapport.
That I can agree with unconditionally. Whoever we get next I just hope its resolved quickly so the club can move on. Judging by how quickly Carlo was dismissed I suspect they have his successor lined up.
Take this for the scuttlebutt it is, but I've heard that everything depends on the Turkey match versus... Belgium maybe? Can't recall... but anyway what I heard was that if Turkey loses Hiddink might be allowed to quit without fuss and go to Chelsea.

apparently Van Basten as manager, Hiddink as director, Zola as coach?

I'd venture to guess one of the latter two will be manager by New Years.

Hiddink + van Basten seems to be the rumour of choice at the moment. I can't see Hiddink managing us full time. He may take on an administrative role, but not as coach - he said he wouldn't coach a club full time again in his career.

I'm still hoping for Villas-Boas though.

The issue isn't what we win, the issue is what the state of the team was like. Ancelotti didn't have any solutions for our atrocious form. Whether the causes of that form were his fault or not are neither here nor there, the fact is he couldn't sort it out.

I'd like to think City fans of all people are a bit more aware of the negative horse shit spouted by the press. At the moment they're running with the "classless" way he was sacked. He was taken to an empty changing room when given the official news. His dismissal was delayed until the last game of the season so he could say goodbye to his players. Its a damned if you do damned if you don't situation and I don't have time for any of it. The press can and will say whatever they want.

To be fair to Chelsea, we can't say much after the way Huges was sacked.

They waited til the last game of the season, and then let him go. As we all know, the media spout so much bullshit it's untrue. Chelsea have sacked him, and given themselves plenty of time to find a replacement. What's the point in dragging it out longer than needed?

Whether you agree with it or not, there is no "right way" to sack a manager.

I never really took to Ancelotti for some reason. I've no idea who they'll bring in, but van Basten wouldn't be wise IMO

In my humble opinion i don't think any manager would of got you any silverware this season with the squad you had, the squad needs a shake up.

I would of given him one more season, afterall he won you the double last season and the new manager will have the luxury of money to spend which is badly needed, what's done is done and time to move on.

By the way................your wish will come true!

Enjoy the summer

Next season Chelsea could well struggle. Look at the players that will be on African Cup duty potential there is Mikel , Essien , Kalou and Drogba all vital members of there squad. Add into the mix the aging Lampard , Terry , Cole , Malouda and Anelka whoever takes over will need time to rebuild the whole squad. A lot of those players were a part of the Mourhino team. It wouldnt shock me next season IF City were to finish ahead of Chelsea next season.

I can see them spending big money throughout the summer though.

Mikel isn't a vital player, he's a squad player. Essien may be sold to AC Milan, his form has been woeful so if a good bid comes in it may happen. Anelka and Malouda are sure to be sold. Drogba is likely to go to Real or back to France but nobody is sure.

Next season you'll be looking at a largely new team. Terry still has it, I can see Lampard becoming a squad big game player and Cole is fine (played every match this season).
