No offence to your observational ability but he has managed to unlock defences of CL teams at the age of 18. He is without a doubt going to be one of Englands biggest talents in the future. I've seen him completely run the midfield in the way players like Lampard and Xavi do which is just incredible considering his age. This season he was asked to do too much too soon. When our regulars returned from injury and freak illnesses, Josh was sent back to the youth squad exhausted and probably a bit dismayed after going from CL football to youth matches. Then for some reason he was played really deep when his services were recalled again around May.JoeMercer'sWay said:funnily enough i've seen when he has played and erm...not seen an awful lot.
promoting youth kids for the sake of it isn't the right way forward, you should have been blooding them 2/3 years ago instead of sticking with the same 15/16 for year after year.
The academy project was one of the fist things Abramovich started when he got here. However such a project yields long term results, we're only just starting to reap the rewards from it. Something like that is not built overnight and if you think your academy will be producing the next Messi or Inestia next season you're in for quite a shock.
1. Nobody will know. I can only assume he did something to seriously piss off the men upstairs because Ancelotti personally asked Abramovich to save him and it failed.Marvin said:1) Wilkins. Why did he go?
2) The Torres fiasco. Who selected him after his initial poor start, and continued to play him game after game when players like Anelka and Drogba were available? If this was Ancelotti's call then I think Abramovic was 100% right to sack him, but I have doubts that it was Carlo's call, because we had a similar issue with Sheva and Mourinho.
Malouda was incredible in the Double season. I wouldn't be so quick to let him go.
I think Chelsea will spend big in the Summer and it looks like they need to as a number of players are reaching the end of their careers eg Anelka, Drogba and Terry, but the manager is the key decision. Seems a certainty that they will go for Hiddink but is he available, and does he want it. Surely Abramovic has already been sounding people out.
Will top players sign for Chelsea without a manager?
2. I have no doubt in my mind that Ancelotti advocated the purchase and fielding of Torres because he said so himself. The purchase I agree with because he will return results next season, however fielding him this season was a huge mistake and starting him against Liverpool directly after we got him was a bigger mistake. People will say "Torres was a Chelsea target before Ancelotti got there" - well who didn't want him? Before Ancelotti got here Torres was one of, if not the best finisher in the world - everyone wanted him.
Malouda had a great season last season but this season he's been our most frustrating player bar none. He's become incredibly selfish and wasteful. He wants to be the star of the show, refuses to pass if there is a tiny chance of shooting and generally has lost his ability to be a team player. There are far better options available, even in our own squad (Zhirkov).
We already have a manger, we just need to announce it. They decided to sack Ancelotti when we were down in 5th, not when we lost to Everton in the last pointless game of the season. But we'll just have to see what happens. I only know that there's going to be a lot of change going on at the Bridge.
