And so it begins...

Sell Yaya and buy Barkley please. Yayas legs will be gone soon anyways, next year he is 32 which is quite old for a midfielder who uses lots of physique in his game. Get £25 million from Yaya and buy Barkley for £25 million + £15 million in add ons. Javi Garcia out for £10 million, Sinclair, Richards, Guidetti for £8 million and try for Schneiderlin as he is home grown as well. £18 million + add ons for Schneiderlin.

Midfield options; Fernandinho, Fernando, Barkley & Schneiderlin = sorted. I know this is football manager esque. but would be nice.

A few things:

1. This kid is absolutely special. The best English player I've seen since Gascoigne. Extremely direct, skilful and composed. In terms of sheer ability he's already right up there with the best in the prem.

2. Some posters are saying 'who would he replace in the first 11?'. Well not necessarily anyone. He's very young and there is absolutely no rush. He could be used in the 'right' games for a season or two and then become a regular starter as some of our senior midfielders begin to slowly decline. This would be a case of getting him now rather than in 1or 2 seasons when he'll be worth twice as much and have every man and his dog after him. Shrewd business IMO.

3. The comparisons with rodwell are ridiculous. Firstly they are different types of midfielder and secondly Barkley is miles the better player. The only comparison is they are both English and both started at Everton.

If he's available we 1000% should be doing everything in our power to get him.

Busy doing paper work for Mangala deal ;) ....all those 3rd party ownership contracts to sort out........hopefully it'll be official in next couple of days as City will want him joining the squad for US trip next week....

Serious question, who's place would he take in the starting 11?
Since when do we have a starting 11 that's set in stone? We hardly ever name an unchanged side. Plus, he's 20 years old. Just 20. Furthermore, if we want to wait until he's the finished article, he will cost about 20-30 million more.

Would we actually be able to get Barkley if Yaya does not leave?

I cant see it happening this window...Best case is that City come to some agreement to sit round the table after the 2014 season and try to sort something out then....
