And so it begins...

Barkley needs to prove himself this season. 1 goodish season for me isn't enough to splash mad money on the kid. See what he does this season and how he progresses and if he does have what it needs to be at the club.

And cost us an extra £25m for the sake of not trusting our eye for a player?

Spurs paid £10m for Bale, Arsenal paid £12m for both Ox and Walcott.

United paid £30m for both Ferdinand and Rooney.

It's about time this club started doing likewise when it comes to talent.

I have been watching football for 35 years and seen live some of the greatest.

In my humble opinion, I have already seen enough to say he he will become one of the greatest English players of all time.

He has absolutely everything and is certainly better than Gasgoigne and Rooney at a similar age.

I've watched this boy in the reserves and coming through the academy.

He has absolutely everything in his locker and street footballers of his like are sadly a dying breed.

If he were to come to City, we would get Bale type money in another five or six years.

Another Big name who...?

I just don't get it,why the fuck is he still here?? My only thoughts are that he has some naughty emails tucked away.......

because he's HG and content with not playing regularly, so he fills up a HG spot.

Well shit if they want someone homegrown and happy not playing they can sell him and sign me in his place. I'll be a lot fucking cheaper I promise.
You're not home grown, sorry!

I'm sorry, but there is no way he's better than Rooney was at his age. Rooney may be a c**t, who never lived up to his potential, but at Barkley age he had already about 50 league goals, champion league hattricks, dominated at an international tournament and a £30m move under his belt. Barkley is nowhere near as talented as Rooney was, not that that means he won't become a better player, because Rooney's terrible attitude and complete lack of development, but to say Barkley is "cetainly better" than Rooney was at this age is just not true.
it is, deal with it. different opinions.
Why must he "deal with it" if it's ok to have a different opinion?

An opinion he has backed up with rather convincing facts..

Rekik has been given 19 for the season which I think suggests he might stay. Which could mean Nastasic on his way out?

I saw Rooney already at Everton to score huge goals like Barkley did vs us in the recent Everton-City game. Only difference was Rooney did it at age 17 Barkley is closer to 21 now...

What Barkley did in 11-12 season and 12-13 season cannot be compared what Rooney did at same age as 18-19 old player...

But to be fair Barkley had awful injury too something like his leg was broken in 3 different places so that surely kept back his development for some time. So if he doesnt have those injuries he would maybe lot further now...

Rooney is/was a striker, Barkley is a midfielder so talking about goals is irrelevant when comparing the two.

Barkley has everything within his game to make it to the very top and I hope we can get him.

Would Barkley even come here?
Of course not, why would he want to come to the Champions, to win trophies, CL football, a fatter wage check and to play with genuinely world class players? It would make no sense whatsoever.

For those who actually care to study a player rather than read newspaper reports and back issues of 442 Barkley is a great example of getting far more than the stats suggest.

He has the power and burst of speed that Rooney had but has better stamina than Rooney.

He has a ferocious shot and is good with both feet and has excellent close control, better than Rooney.

He can hold his own with his foot speed too meaning that his Ronaldo like step-overs give him something Rooney lacked.

His weakness is that he can make poor decisions and when playing against better organised defences he is prone to making rash decisions but that is about experience at the top level.

I would imagine that he may well see that in order to develop further he has to gain that experience and also train with the very best of players.

The fact that he is approaching 21 should inform his decision to make a move as Everton are way off where he could go but he needs to get that move as soon as possible.

All IMHO of course.
