And so it begins...

I think we will struggle to sell Garcia and therefore I think we will see him loaned out.

Without breaking FFP rules I reckon Barkley is pretty much impossible this window, I think if the club really want him they will be doing all they can to get a deal in place for next summer.

We should be doing all we can to get Isco on loan though with an option to buy, if Txiki can get such a deal to happen the man is a wizard.

I am not going to ask any questions about these rumours.....my sanity couldn't take another summer of Isco rumours!!! ;) I followed the hundreds of pages on that thread last year and still recovering!! ;) Just wake me up when he signs!!! he! ;)

I don't think we would be linked if we didn't think we could raise the money, and I also think the club must have suitors for the players it wants out. Otherwise it would be plain silly and Txixi and city do not do silly these days.

A good friend of mine reminded me that building a team is not just about signing the flavour of the month.

Football is not about amassing players, its integrating them in a system that is tactically flexible whatever they may come up against. Choosing the right player for the system needs careful thought and not to be rushed into! That's before we talk about attitude, dedication towards the cause and of course money. Beware signing new players which can destroy what we have built already.

I guess what I am trying to say is that football management is not easy and whilst we have our views on the merits of individual players or tactics it is best left to the professionals.

However that should not stop us fans speculating and enjoying the videos etc that help to whet the appetite for the season ahead. Long may the transfer forum continue.

Fortunately in Pellegrini, Txiki & Soriano we have football people who know how it works, can & do deliver.

What a time to be a Blue.

As usual it'll be the wages that will scupper any move more than the fee. Arturo Vidal earns a pre-bonus basic of £60,000/week at Juve and is one of the best midfielders in the world - and I bet Garcia earns more, so who from Italy or Spain would match his wages (keeping in mind he probably has zero desire to take a pay cut to move)?

The same may go for Richards and Sinclair, who are both paid above their talent level.

Now that Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle have rejected the chance to sign Micah, who is going to take the gamble I wonder. There was gossip of Hull but that went quiet. He has 1 year left on his deal and if we don't find a buyer, we're losing him on a free transfer next summer.

We've just done it again, raising Boyata's wages to a reported £35,000/week. Which doesn't sound a lot in football but try selling him to a club of his talent level on those wages... not easy. Luckily he only has a 2 year contract.

Couldn't we pay the difference in wages for the rest of the duration of his contract with us? Pocket a larger fee but take a small hit on the wages portion? Not ideal but workable?

Yes, that's basically the only way... golden handshakes. My understanding is City have been trying to cut down on this but it may be unavoidable with some of these players.

Thing is with regards to FFP we need solid figures in transfer fees. We have already cut our basic wage down, with Lescott, Barry, Tevez and Kolo leaving, along with new deals for the likes of Nasri. If we have to take that pinch in wages for a couple of seasons to get a better fee in order to potentially fund another transfer, I think its ok
