And so it begins...

I don't think we would be linked if we didn't think we could raise the money, and I also think the club must have suitors for the players it wants out. Otherwise it would be plain silly and Txixi and city do not do silly these days.
I agree. It suggests the possibility is being discussed with Everton so we'd look pretty stupid if they say yes and then we pull a Michael Knighton.

Couldn't we pay the difference in wages for the rest of the duration of his contract with us? Pocket a larger fee but take a small hit on the wages portion? Not ideal but workable?

Yes, that's basically the only way... golden handshakes. My understanding is City have been trying to cut down on this but it may be unavoidable with some of these players.
thanks to marwood.

You know fuck all so don't start this shit again ya cretin.

Unfuckingbelievable Jeff !! Some people don`t know when to stop and I wonder if a lot is down to less brain cells than most FI.

Liverpool have managed to sell Borini and Assaidi, two unwanted players, for a combined £21m. Wonder what wages they were on for the scousers to command such fees.

I reckon they were not on more than 20k a week just look at the clubs Liverpool bought them from they don't pay high wages

Thing is with regards to FFP we need solid figures in transfer fees. We have already cut our basic wage down, with Lescott, Barry, Tevez and Kolo leaving, along with new deals for the likes of Nasri. If we have to take that pinch in wages for a couple of seasons to get a better fee in order to potentially fund another transfer, I think its ok

With ffp, you can only raise the wagebill by a small percentage each year, so presumably if you don't keep pushing up the wage bill, then if you do need to suddenly pay Messi a fortune, you are fucked.

Dealing with the corruption with a view to possible future signings, could be part of this & therefore a high wagebill may suit us perhaps.

Can't see Barkley coming now Yaya is staying, he won't want to be on the bench.

never thought he would come this year. but the groundwork may have been laid (in terms of piquing his interest) for next year when Yaya is another year further on the wrong side of 30.

If jimmy stays I agree, if jimmy goes we have an opening for a decent home grown attacking player.

People think too much about champs league squad but we will have 45 + non champs league games and need a full quota of 25 for those and I think we need to be able to rest players like silva , Yaya, kompany which has not really been an option in prem or Europe in the past
