And so it begins...

Oh, you noticed that too?

Feel free to also source his articles on how Moyes was also the second coming.

The TV pundits have been throwing in it for the last couple weeks how Van Gaal is a tactical genius.

Fitting how this just popped up right around the time you posted that. :-)

McDonnell is one of many bitter reds (or people under the red spell) in the media.

But none are worse than Jamie Jackson IMO. He is supposed to be "The Guardian's Manchester football correspondent" but all he does is fawn over United. Anything City is a mundane article or snide dig on Twitter.

I'll raise you a Mark Ogden.

Nobody takes Jackson seriously, he has no contacts and simply hides behind his broadsheet brief of commenting after the event - a sort of Sky Sports News we understand kinda job.

Too many members of the public attach a supposed respectability and legitimacy to working for broadsheets, they are no better than the tabs.

That article certainly is "palpable".

It hasn't even started, yet!

Wait for Van Gaal to be introduced next week.

The United pack will be back in their box and fawn aplenty. They will be scared shitless of him.

Note the use of imagery - classic United prose for the spoon fed Facebook Red Army.

I have my doubts about Mangala just due to the fact that he doesn't seem 100% certain like Fernando or Fernandinho. Oh well, Txiki has hardly set a foot wrong since coming so I'll take his word for it.

I can taste a bit of sick in my mouth.

Media in general has responded to general social media consumption trends that hold timeliness to be far more important than accuracy. It will only get worse, I am afraid, as we all unwittingly drive out all of the decent journalists by refusing to pay much if anything for vetted content.

That is more a debate about more important coverage than transfer speculation, of course. Though, don't let some on here know there are other happenings in the world—we may not see them for weeks.

When is this news from last night likely to be broken mate?

I heard the manager wanted everything sorted for the American trip.

I had no idea Van Gaal already had that sort of influence in Manchester.
