Just on the £49mil, The cap was 60 mill euros, that means the £49 mil is variable, and with a stonger pound less than 49 at the moment. If we spent 40 mill euros on Mangala and 15 mill Euros on Fernando the Caballero fee has probably taken us over our 60 mill Euro cap.

Some amateur sums...

€40m for Mangala (be interested to see the details of this, whether any of it comes in future add-ons)
€15m for Fernando
€5.5m for Willy (City briefed that the real fee was less than initially reported, around £4.4m before add-ons)
€1.8m for Zuculini
= €62.3
- €2.5m received by Everton for Barry
= €59.8m

Could be off by a few hundred thousand though. :-)

But we've pretty much spent all we can without further sales/swaps, so unless someone serious leaves, it could be very hard to land a player like Barkley who Everton would probably want £40m for. I've seen a lot of mooted fees for Garcia etc., but selling players for good fees is always harder than it sounds.

Napoli are apparently close to signing Lucas from Liverpool on loan with the option to buy. I think Garcia is a backup plan for them.

It's hard for us to sell players like Garcia because we pay our squad players so well. If Garcia was on £30,000-£40,000 a week, we could probably get £10m+ for him without any worries, but our squad players earn more than high earners at many clubs. That's why I have a hard time seeing us raise the funds to buy someone like Barkley this summer. Maybe we could buy the first option on him instead.

Would love Barkley but not right now.

Main problem is we can't take him now unless we gain £30m minimum from somewhere. If he has a top season then plenty of others will be in for him next summer. We can't buy him and loan him back because the fee still goes on our figures for this season.

Going to take some major player shifting to get hmi in any time soon. Unless it's yaya getting his way and going somewhere.....

I may be in the minority here but I think they would sell Nastasic if they got an offer and use Rekik as our 4th centre back. That would give us another £10 Mill. If we wanted I think we could get £45 - £50 mill together.
