And the best Manchester band is?

To be honest I dont think we have much to shout about, but if I was pressured,I would have to go with,The Smiths first then Joy Division.

OASIS INVENTED ALL THE GENRES. THAT'S WHY THEY'RE DESERVEDLY GOING THROUGH TO THE FINAL OF BLUEMOON'S BEST BAND OF ALL TIME COMPETITION.

SUCH AN EXPERIMENTAL ROCK GROUP THAT LITERALLY DEFINED ALL THE MUSIC THAT'S EVER BEEN. THEY'RE BETTER THAN ALL THOSE OTHER BANDS AND PERFORMERS THAT JUST EXISTED AND RECORDED SHITE.

COCKY, NORTHERN AND CITY FANS. WHAT'S BETTER?

I don't rate oasis but you're a bit of a tool sometimes. You seem to think your opinion is fact because you write reviews that nobody reads. You aren't a music expert, you're a fan like any of us.

Hes a pretentious hipster.

Oasis made a decent Roses tribute act.
New Order better than Joy Division
Mondays made a few decent tunes, but loads of shite
Doves, ACR, Easterhouse, MC Buzz B, Puressence, Durutti Column underated
Inspiral Carpets, Ting Tings, Elbow overrated
808 state, a guy called Gerald happy Manc acid
Interstella, Slow Bongo Floyd, Paris Angels victims of Manc backlash
James lost credibility when they jumped on the bandwagon
The Chameleons should have been huge
Hollies, Simply Red, 10cc, M People Commercial dirge
Courteeners, Delphic the futures bright
The Buzzcocks outstanding
Magazine shite
The Smiths musically and lyrically groundbreaking a unique band that still stirrs emotions today
But after considering everything, the fact that our musicians are great, but our frontmen are shit dancers (Ian Curtis Freddie Dreamer) and how lucky I've been to grow up in the best city in the world, the winner is ...... Cleopatra (Comin atcha!)

I love Oasis but I don't think they're that great if that makes sense. Stone Roses followed by the Smiths and then James for me.

The Roses were iconic at the time, but two records isn't enough to be considered the greatest when you look at the creative output of the likes of the smiths, new order, james, et al.

This is a silly argument Billy. Greatness is defined by quality more than quantity.

The Smiths had moments of quality, New Order had moments of quality. James had no moments of quality and a large quantity of averageness.

The Roses are Gareth Bale making the rest look like Rio Ferdinand.

If you don't think the output of the Smiths, New Order, and James could be classed as quality then we have very little to talk about. The first Roses album is a masterpiece, the second one an ok album with a few moments of actual brilliance. Oasis were a better band because they made two absolutely stunning albums, whereas the Roses managed one.

I might reevaluate after their new album comes out next year ...

I love my music, i listen to all genre's - Metal, Rock, Pop, Reggae etc ... Even if i dont particularly enjoy the sound i have an interest in the music and the background, It started when i was working in the CO-OP at 16 and heard 'Like a rolling stone' being played, i found out it was Bob Dylan that sang this, Now i pretty much have all Bob Dylans albums (believe me that's alot) and never get tired of listening to him, Blonde on blonde is one of my favorite albums - When he did a song called 'Song to woody' .. that interested me and i found out through this he was inspired by Woody Guthrie and bought his Best Of album ... couldn't connect to the songs like i did Dylan but did like some of his songs - This Land Is Your Land and Pastures Of Plenty i can think of... This is how Music is to me, you enjoy an artist and you find out who there inspirations were, and you listen to them -

Through Beatles, i listened to Rolling Stones, through Rolling Stones i listened to Muddy Waters, Elvis, they had loads of inspirations - basically i love my music, all of it ! I am trying and struggling to get into Hip Hop but still interested in how it developed.

Point is, through all this, i enjoy listening to Oasis the most, that's my honest opinion, so when BOB or whoever think there all smug because they like to go against the grain and say Oasis are crap and i don't no anything - i know there talking bollocks, i also think if Oasis were not so successful BOB and co would be putting Oasis as there favorite Manchester band, we all have opinions - right or wrong. But when someone laughs or says i am wrong for having my own opinion that Oasis to me are the greatest ever band, i think bollocks to you.
