He's gone for life either way thank God. It's just that they're having a 10 day trial to decide whether he is insane etc and I find it fascinating. The program on BBC 2 now is very revealing, it's a repeat from the other night.

I don't think a totally sane person could murder all those kids then carry on seemingly oblivious to what he did.

Imo he is batshit insane.

He may be able to conduct himself well in society mostly but no person can do that without severe emotional trauma unless they are batty.

I tend to agree TCIB but then a part of me thinks well there are soldiers killing soldiers/civilians everyday around the world. He probably thinks of himself as some kind of
sodlier, as we know his enemy is Islam.

The official psychiatric report came to the conclusion that he was insane, however another report said he holds very extreme views yes, but he does not show signs of being insane.

If they lock him up as a sane man he'll absolutely go away happy, as that would lend perverse credit to his manifesto.

I know mate it's a contentious subject and my OP wasn't really clear. Fact is that anyone who kills someone else is mad, and in this case he must be completely insane. However, he's basing his reasoning on the same sort of thing as any other terrorist. If a Muslim had done the same thing in the name of Islam we wouldn't be even arguing about mental responsibility, he would just be a terrorist.

Totally agree, he sounds completely like a terrorist. His own defence lawyer says that the guy believes that he's reached a political understanding beyond the rest of Norwegian society. Much has been made of his aggression towards multiculturalism, but after all that he went out and killed a lot of white Norwegians...

Yes, but they were mostly members of the UAF Labour party who are supporters of multiculturalism. It's an even worse kind of terrorism, it's like saying you can't even believe in a multicultural ideal, otherwise you will be targeted. That's why the whole trial is so contentious. What message do the Norwegians want to give out?
