Andre Villas-Boas

People like to talk bad about leagues outside of the PL, just remember that the Portugese league has produced players like Di Maria, Coentrao, Ramires, Luiz, Hulk, Falcao, Moutinho in the past few years alone.
Yes, he had a good Euro, and yes he is brilliant at going forward! But as a defender your job is to defend first and foremost. If you can contribute in attack then it is a bonus. Yet Coentrão too often get caught out in position and easily get beating, notably the school boy defensive errors that cost Madrid the game vs Bayern.

Defiantly the weakest link in Madrid defence it s why the second choice LB.
€30 million? surely most expensive 'average at best' defenders.

with every interview i hear from him, it sounds like sour grapes to me

he needs to focus on his job in a more respectable manner

his old club won the champions league and fa cup without him

i tire of the "roman quit on me", "roman knows nought about football"

he knew enough to get rid of the captain that was driving his boat into an iceberg

he certainly can take a page from our bobby, who constantly accepted blame to deflect from and to protect his players

Definitely. In each interview it seems, he takes a little swipe at Chelsea and Red Roman. I know news sites are probably blowing it up, but he needs to focus on the task at hand. Not a cause for concern for Spud fans, but he needs to get over it.

AVB critical of Modric behaviour
July 22, 2012

By ESPN saff

Andre Villas-Boas has attacked the actions of wantaway midfielder Luka Modric, after the Croatian failed to travel with Tottenham for their pre-season tour of America.

Modric did not board the flight with the Spurs squad as he continues to angle for a move away from White Hart Lane. The Daily Telegraph reports the midfielder is also facing an £80,000 fine for refusing to train on Friday.

Villas-Boas is a big fan of Modric's footballing ability, having tried to sign him for Chelsea last summer. However, he now faces the prospect of losing the player - most likely to Real Madrid - and claims Modric's decision to leave Spurs will backfire.

"I think Modric is wrong. This will go against him," Villas-Boas is reported as saying in Spanish newspaper AS. "He has worsened the situation with what he's doing and now the chairman [Daniel Levy] is very angry.

"This is also not a good time for Daniel Levy, who is in the USA at the moment, because his wife is ill."

Spurs are scheduled to face LA Galaxy on Tuesday, with a meeting against Liverpool also penned into the diary. Clearly Villas-Boas still wants Modric to form part of his plans, and he admits Tottenham will be rocked by the Croatian's anticipated departure.

"He's good, very good. I tried to sign him last summer for Chelsea. He will be a big loss," Villas-Boas said. "He's a player who can make the difference, who gives a lot of clarity to the play when the team needs it and who can play in several positions."

Spurs team-mate Rafael van der Vaart has spoken to AS about the situation, having spent time with the Croatian on Friday. "He's in a very difficult situation," he said. "He knows that the chairman, Levy, is very angry, but he's very upset about what's happening. I hope and still believe that everything will be resolved in three or four days."

So it was fine for you to try and unsettle him while at Chelsea, but now that the shoe is on the other foot you are a hypocrite?

And why bring Daniel Levy's wife into any of this?

This person needs to mature quite a bit, for someone who has never played the game professionally, he is too young to manage at a high level. Yes Porto, but the spotlight here is immense and there is no room for error.

Miserable person who will not last...It pains me to say this, as much as I hated Redknapp, he had some form of strange misguided humility about him. This arrogant person I have no time for.

Rant over...when does the bloody season start?

If those quotes are true from avb then he is a twst and deserves to fail again.

Why not be diplomatic? Be nice! That's all that's expected.
