Andrew Marr

7 million doses of Moderna on order.

Thanks, I thought it was a relatively low number, and Trump certainly claimed he'd taken the first xxx millions.

Johnson claiming it was done was disingenuous when it won't arrive for a while yet (even the govt's own estimate is 'early spring').

I think a clear timeline of expectations of when doses expected/used should be published and updated each week - it will give a clear indication of progress.

That was what jarred with me. If it had been relevant or true that would have been okay, but it wasn't an answer to the question, and claiming credit for Oxford/AZ is Trumpian.

It clearly is programmed in that they are unable to to say that anything wrong was done, when sometimes it would play quite well to admit it.

He gets away with it because looking like a chancer on Marr isn't hugely significant - Andrew Neil would eviscerate him.

If you were a PR advisor you would want to strangle him. For the Oxford vaccine all he has to do is say "We are fortunate to have world class researchers and scientists in this country that we can call upon in moments of crisis. Us politicians can't take much credit, it's down to the wonderful people at Oxford university and we will continueto support their research with government funding and grants. Name drop Professor Andrew Pollard and your done,
Canada is right up there, Greece and Southern Italy aswel. I havent been to NZ, i have heard great reports but its too far from the rest of the world for me.

As someone who moved to the UK nearly 10 years ago, I can honestly say it's a great country to live and work in. I lived in the US, Japan and Germany and the UK is a good if not better than them. English people and mancunians especially, are warm, polite, friendly, tolerant and pretty funny.

I will say that this government and this PM are divisive and incompetent. They are doing harm and hurting the country. I also don't recognize anything in them in the normal English people i know.

Perhaps I'm just not going to the right bullingdon meetings.

Crossed wires here fella with looks,I was meaning there are or will be more favourable places than here at present, and you obliged with 3 alternatives
But you responded to my post where i sugested there wasnt many countries better than the uk. 3 out of 190 odd isnt many in most peoples book. Its an interesting question isnt it. People complain about things and rightly so, but few choose to do much about it with regards emigrating with just over 5% of the population per annum choosing to do so.

Like Greece & Italy when I visited but not sure I'd want to live in either country, Greece in particular due to the experiences encountered when out & about with a black work colleague of mine.
yes thats a downside that i have been lucky enough to not experience.

fair assessment, thanks for sharing. It will be interesting to see if Johnson and the Tories get another term. Personally I doubt it. Although I think Lisa Nandy would have held Johnson to account better than Starmer who seems to sit on the fence a bit too often for my liking at times.

I was just thinking how the SNP will take what Johnson has just said! I believe that there are some in the Conservative machine who will be quite happy for Scotland to leave, as it makes a Conservative majority far more likely.

The question about how much vaccine there is ready to go was inevitable, I agree, and he just quoted the 530k (I think) without any explanation of previous figures being so wrong or misleading. He also claimed the Moderna vaccine, but I haven't heard we've got any yet, and I thought only a small amount was ordered - and that'll be after the US get theirs.

Fair or unfair from here on in every second day the question is going to be about the vaccine. People are going to want to know when they can get back to normality, especially if we are stuck in tier 4 till spring. TT&I was a fuck up they have to do better with this vaccine roll out.

Labour as a whole need to get their younger and more competent MPs out more regularly. Nandy, Rayner, Phillip's need to do more publicity and be seen as credible government ministers holding this government to account. Dodds in particular doesn't look comfortable in the public eye and for shadow chancellor that is a worry.

I've been here all my life mate,I'm 50 this year, travelled a lot, probably not as much as some on here,I have always dreamed of living abroad, and would still like the opportunity if it arises, but I am proud to be an Englishman, but have never felt so pissed off with these tools who run our country,it really is depressing times.

I'm not daft enough to think the grass would be greener, but it would be a lot warmer, and the sun does wonderful things to the body and spirit.

Yes, there absolutely has to be a plan laid out.

e.g.
When do AZ/Pfizer/Moderna expect to provide the doses (arrive in the UK).
What is the delay on making them useable.
How are they organising the distribution/use - ages/teachers/NHS/whatever.
How many people have been vaccinated first dose/second dose (this can easily be a couple of days behind by explaining that the data collection takes a bit of time.
etc.
As soon as people can see the numbers ticking along, they will be much happier.

I haven't even heard any plan laid out as to how they are doing all who are e.g. 75+.

It just suggests that there isn't a plan.

Unless I missed it don't think its authorised yet

I would also add that if i truly felt as you did i would leave to live in one of the many better places?
Not practical or possible currently, but as i have mentioned previously,as soon as i can retire.....i'll hopefully be doing exactly that.

All recommendations gratefully received.

His usual desperation to tell people things that make him look in a good light?

Throw in some references to bugles and the Crimean war, it gets the target audience of beardy real ale drinking racist Morris dancers in the Home Counties all moist.

For Those who missed it here is a transcript of Johnsons replies
