He's a decent enough player who is a good mid table player. He, however is not worth 15mil and 100k-a-week!

I would be very surpsied if he scored more than 15 league goals and for the sort of money they are paying out that what he should be getting.

I think it shows how limited West Ham's scouting is. Is anyone really going to suggest that for that money(inc wages) there isn't an alternative?

As a lone striker in the way were set up, having seen the impact he made for us last season... why would we look for an alternative ? Hes a young international English player , £15 mill is a great deal

Its not the 15mil I particulary have the problem with. Its that a team(with respect) that will be midtable is paying someone 100k-a-week, I don't think he's worth it. Its as simple as that but I suppose come May we'll know if he was worth it

They are paying him 5mil a year, I don't see the value. They won't qualify for Europe(most likely) and they won't go down with or without him(in my opinion). So I don't see why they don't buy a cheaper player on less wages cos if Fat Sam goes they could be stuck with him for years like us with Adebayor, Bridge etc

It strikes me as an awful lot of money for a pretty limited player

If we want to progress then we have to make these steps.

Olympic Stadium is ours, we have secured Adidas as a manufacturer, we have the right manager, we have a solid squad... if there is any time to splash out on a class player it is now.

That is where you and I obviously disagree. I, in no way think he is 'class'. West Ham, in my opinion, could have got a player for half the price and it would have made no difference to West Ham's up and coming season. But like I said, we'll find out in May
