Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole feels that Manchester City are not quite good enough to win a Premier League title.

The 39-year old, who won five titles at Old Trafford, believes that the style of football played under Roberto Mancini will not cut it although he does predict that the Citizens will surely be up and around the mark for years to come.

"They'll be up there, but challenging realistically to win it playing the way they do?" said Cole. "I don't think the Premier League can be won the way they play football.

"You can't go to the Emirates, come away with a draw, and think that's a good result.

"Manchester United can't come to Eastlands with you sitting back and being delighted with a draw when you're the home team.

"We're totally different to the Italian league. Here, you must score goals, people want to be on the edge of their seats.

"The Barclays Premier League is the most exciting league in the world and goals are what it's about. Mancini's Italian and you can't see him changing his mindset.

"They wanted to finish in the Champions league spots this season, fair enough. But if they're saying they want to win the Premier league...playing like that?!

"Let's be brutally honest, I don't think any team can win the Premier league playing like that."

I think he's referring to the mentality of thinking a draw against the big teams is a good result and I agree with him. Mancini has definitely sent the team out to play negatively in this type of game this season and has been happy with a draw. To be fair to him though, he's got the job done this season so you can't criticize him too much for it. Next season his target will be to win the League (imo), and what Cole is driving at is your mentality should be to try to win every game. Doesn't always work like that, in fact it's impossible to win every game, but that has to be the approach. I'm hopeful that with some quality additions in the summer, Mancini will be confident enough in his players to play with more freedom next season and, if he does, we've got a cracking chance of winning the title. Can't wait for next season to start tbh.

can you not recall tevez leading a lightning counter attack at the emirates where he blazed the ball just over....just one example,but if the team didn,t want to win that match what was tevez doing then?

andrew fucking cole didn,t have the problem of no silva and no balo to deal with in one of the hardest away matches of the season. mancini had to set up to make us difficult to beat,but if he really wanted a draw why did he start tevez and jo.up front?(not that jo did anything,but i can think of a whole host of defensive minded players who he could have picked)
