Worst one was Gueye being subbed and the referee dropping the ball to Pickford completely unaware of Gueye wasting time by taking 40 seconds to walk off the pitch. Then jogged pretty slow back to Pickford to re-drop it. Unbelievably shit really, unacceptably
That incident was the bottom of the barrel as far as that referee today was concerned. Completely out of his depth from minute one.
As many others on here have pointed out, he made so many errors (including some that should have gone Everton's way) it was astonishing to witness.
And as others have also said, the referee's performance (or Everton’s dreadful tactics/game plan) can't be used by us to hide behind. We were garbage on and off the pitch, for sure.
Since the Old Man first took me to Maine Road In 1959 I've seen some doozies, some wrong 'uns among the men in black. But the clown in the middle today didn't just give the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen, he almost lost control of the players. Had the game boiled over at some point, I wouldn't have been surprised. And somebody could have been seriously injured.
Whoever's assessing his performance today should be recommending he makes a swift return to lower leagues until he can prove he's fit to operate at the elite level.
As for City, we go again, try to make up the lost ground and never give in. That's 'never' as in 'ever'..
