Andy Madley performance

I was less bothered by the timekeeping - it's a given. And I don't think he was the worst we have seen - that was Lahoz v Liverpool. But he was another in a long line of referees who allow the game to be ruined by allowing one team to commit numerous little fouls and punishing the team trying to win the game.

It was the way he allowed Everton to kick Haaland (in particular) without any punishment. In the incident that led to Haaland being booked - he had two of them hanging round his neck as he went for the header - clear penalty. Nothing done but when he goes in a touch too hard to make a tackle - immediate booking.

There was a later incident in the centre circle where No2 (who somehow had already been booked) came through the back of Haaland and in doing so stopped a breakaway - two reasons why it should have been a second booking - he then rolled around pretending to be hurt and miraculously the second yellow didn't appear.

Then walked off at an angle so it took him longer to get off the pitch! Do they realise how much of a knobhead it makes them look these players?!

They couldn’t give any less of a fuck mate, have you not watched em feigning injury, nobody rolling round on the floor holding their head after a dragonflies knitting has landed on their shoulder would do that if they feared complete and utter embarrassment..!

Absolutely lost control as our players started retaliating and he panicked. Horrible performance.

Not read the whole thread but not seen it mentioned yet, that was the most I've seen a ref conveniently cutting off our passing lanes. He was ALWAYS in the way of one of our passing lanes as we pulled them around. It's either intentional or completely inept.

Number 2 was Tarkowski. He got that crook of a referee on his side from the off and at at one point I wondered who was refereeing the game. He got away with a couple of offences and would have been sent off by another referee. That was the worst display of officiating I have seen for a long time. He lost control of the game very early on. Timekeeping was appalling. There was a 10 minute break for the debacle of the malfunctioning equipment, 7 substitutions, a number of breaks for alleged injuries and a goal celebration. So not taking into account blatant time wasting, how he only added 11 minutes I will never understand.

I am not so sure it is accidental. We have seen many times a ref "lose control" of one of our games. What that does is replace the calmness and efficiency of our game with, shall we say, less calmness and efficiency. So we lose momentum and performance is absolutely ruined.

The ref should have given a yellow card to Godfrey in the first minute. That would have calmed things down a bit. He should have stopped this advantage business for a while while he sorted out some of the repeat offenders. Instead, they were given carte blanche to push, tackle late, snap at ankles and, not surprisingly, the guys reacted. Bernardo, KDB and Haaland were all a knife-edge throughout the game. That first half could have been much nastier.

Accidental or deliberate? You tell me.

I think it was probably the worst referee performance I’ve ever seen. It’s not the reason for the defat though, that’s on Pep. Foden gave us pace and energy and looked our best chance of getting a winner. The problem was Pep left it far too late which is beyond confusing.

Agree about the worst reffing performance iv never seen a ref loose the game so fast. Haaland celebrating when the Everton player finally got booked summed it up
