Bang on,being a Champion is a 24hr occupation,it never ends.....every aspect of your life is dedicated to that one goal and nothing can distract you because you can guarantee it wont be distracting your rivals/competitors.
That must be where Henman went wrong, he only did a 23 hour day.

Bollocks. They are amongst the fittest sportsmen/women on the planet.
Even at the top level, they pause and piss about with a towel between each point, and have a nice sit down to have a drink and a banana at the end of every other game.
I would say international rugby league players are probably the fittest sportsmen in the world at the moment.

IMO triathletes/ironman competitors and top level boxers are fitter than Rugby League players

Having played just about every sport known to man in my younger, thinner days, boxing training (and that was just at University Boxing Club level, ie bar one absolute hooligan, we were all fucking hopeless) was far and away the toughest. We used to train in a converted church that had about a dozen flights of steps - about 100 steps in total - and the coach would make us run up and down them at least 10 times each every week, followed by unfeasible amounts of sit ups and press ups, before pads and bag work. We’d be that fucked by the time we actually started sparring, we could hardly lift our arms (probably deliberate on the coach’s part to stop anyone getting hurt)! Rugby training was a breeze in comparison, although admittedly I only ever played Union, which was full of beer bellies. League in those days was far more brutal, but I’m not convinced training for it could eclipse boxing at either amateur or professional levels.

No directed at you mate, but what the hell, it reminded me.

Henman used to get no end of stick and be called a failure because he kept losing in Wimbledon semi-finals. He got as high as fourth in the world. Fourth in the fucking world! Some failure! Just because there were three players better than him didn't make him a failure, it made him seriously good!

Does this mean his mum will disappear from the TV? I hope so. I don't understand how she is invited onto the shows that she has been.

Probably because she helped train not one but two British people to be elite champions at tennis which is something no other **** managed for 70 odd years, I don't understand how people can be that arsed to be bothered about her enough to comment on a football forum about how they are bothered about her.

Maybe you should stop watching the tat she gets invited on and that would solve some of the problem for you.

:)
