I'd want it to be a short term loan if he does go. The quality in the MLS is shy of the standard I believe Angelino can play at now, but an introduction to first team football would be welcome and could put him in the loan shop window for European sides.

It's also worth noting that the MLS season runs through the summer so he would be getting first team experience leading up to the start of our season. Which could, if he does a Denayer and develops his game out of all expectation, put him in line for our 1st team this coming season.

I think that regardless of how well he does, I'd want him tested (defensively mainly) against sterner opposition before he's thrown in the deep end for City. Impressing in a few months at NYCFC could encourage some better European clubs to take a punt on him for the 15/16 season. A few LBs are rumoured to be on the move this summer so opportunities could arise.
 
MLS is not good for him, he is our best young left back and if we want to he progressing then he do not need to go in MLS,best for him is to go in championship or to be our third left back.
 
I think it would be a good move to be there until Xmas or so ( I guess that's when the MLS season ends), he could then be 3rd LB with us getting a little game time with suspensions and injuries followed by a high Championship/low Premier loan 16/17.
 
MEN even quoting Angelino on the topic so it looks really like a done deal.

Good business as far as I'm concerned, it was obvious that we either buy an LB or stick with the two we have (considering Clichy is at least HG, I think it was a no brainer that he stays), and he's still just 18. He will be there until December, so can still try something new in the new calendar year (or help the EDS, although that might not be the best decision after playing in MLS). A loan to the Championship, whatever.

It's not like the league has much higher standards than the Scottish PL (Bradley Wright-Phillips ffs), but playing in front of great crowds, with the likes of Lampard, Villa should do him great. Also, I was crying in other topics for a attacking fullbacks in NYCFC's team as their diamond system requires players like this, and neither Wingert, nor Brovsky or the other options looked like decent attacking FBs. They might have been solid defensively, but the are hardly enough for a formation like this. That's why I actually always wondered why did Kreis even play it, but with Angelino supporting down the left... Who knows, but I'm actually really looking forward to see their games come July.

I guess this was the reason he didn't even travel to the US after the season, when it looked dead cert? The deal must have been discussed already and he just had a longer summer break, because his season will start earlier than for the others.
 
Great move. Say what you like about MLS but it's first team football and being our sister club it'll be on our terms.
 
This deal is a good deal if we haven't had interest from other clubs. We should use the MLS and NYCFC as much as we can for those players we cannot find appropriate clubs for in Europe. It's a higher level than the EDS in any case so he'll get some good experience and the culture over there and players within that team will give him some good knowledge and experience on and off the field.

"Angelino will be eligible for selection following the opening of the MLS transfer window on July 8, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and his P1 Visa."

Although I just checked MLS schedule and if NYCFC won't make the playoffs, their season ends by October(!), so he might be available for the EDS (or a Championship loan) very early.
 
I think this is a good move. It's a similar standard to the scottish league that Denayer has just spent the season in. the MLS is full of excellent athletes so it should toughen him up and it helps out our sister club. What's not to like. Do well there until christmas, come back and hopefully find a better standard to play in either for a title challenging championship team or even a lower end prem team for the remainder of the season.
 
Hope we don't end up burning these lads out by not letting them have a good break during the close season, still developing physically so although its a good thing them getting regular football we don't want to put to much stress on their body's...

He can't play for another month.
 
I'm sure he'll be looked after. Has to have a month without football by FA rules I think, then he'd pretty much be back into it with us or in New York.
 
This is a smart move that stands to benefit Angelino a great deal. The MLS is a very athletic league so the experience either in the training ground or in competitive football games will at least add to his development in that aspect whilst keeping him on his toes and perhaps preparing him for City's first squad involvement when he comes back at end of October or so , depending on how the NYCFC season goes. And if not, it is still a good experience for a developing player showing a lot of promise

So a very positive thing for Angelino and it is an ideal, short term arrangement.
