Angelino

Disappointed that the signing hasn't worked out but it was a gamble in bringing Angelino back. Good luck, he is joining a good club. It does leave us light in terms of squad options.

Interesting transfer considering Mendy is currently injured, but best of luck to him. If he manages to tie down a starting spot I suspect he'll make a fair few in this thread look pretty stupid. Wonder if this is tied up in any way to Upamecano or Werner? I'd have either of those two this summer.

I know people say he is not good enough but I am not sure he get forward well and crosses well that’s what our fullbacks are all about and has maybe had one game against United where he has struggled the rest of the season he has either been injured or not picked We need more home grown players not and not sure there are many decent left backs let alone ones that play like we want would sit on the bench behind Mendy Might we need 3 left backs next year even tho Mendy is now fit given his injury record I use to rate Zinchenko well before many people but I now think we need another fullback like Mendy that’s how we play after all most of the season we have avoided playing Cencelo at left back even tho he can play there we have surely done that for a reason so this whole thing is a bit confusing even more so when you consider how we brought him in loaned him out sold him brought him back etc

that being said financially cracking deal if they buy him

For those at all interested in xG-type stats, Angelino has the third highest xA (expected assists) at City - only behind Mahrez and KDB. The caveat, of course, is that he only played 417 minutes, so it's hardly conclusive, but it certainly suggests he had/has promise as an attacking full-back. His xA is higher than Alexander-Arnold and Robertson. Incidentally, Cancelo has almost the same xA as Robertson, although once again, it's only from 664 minutes, so you can only infer potential at this point.

So, if they performed exactly as they have done during their few appearances for us in the Premier League, our backup fullbacks would produce more assists for Liverpool than their "world-class" attacking fullbacks.

Like you said, the sample size makes it difficult to draw any conclusions on that. Almost half of it was driven by the Watford 8-0 from what I can tell.

They’d produce more chances. With our finishing this season they would still be a long way back on actual assists
