Angelino

Usual nonsense.

Where are all these club shelling out 30m for him? Did Txiki turn down those offers and delibrately choose Leipzig?

Denayer, major attitude issues, shit on all his loan spells and we got 9m for him.

Tosin, cheap deal but hardly anyone else falling over themselves to give us more money and we let him to go a team that could let him start and develop.
If you think we did well selling him for that price your the one thinking nonsense.

Denayer didn't have attitude problems, he was great at all of his loans and wanted to stay, Pep would only keep him 4th choice and he was better than that.

Tosin will develop in the premier league, and we will get nearly nothing for it when he inevitably becomes better. Wow what a good deal for us...

Holy crap atleast if my takes were nonsense you should say something good to show that, not the crap you spouted.

Such a shame for Angelino, came back and had those few games to prove himself yet played shite, then his confidence just went. Just one of those things, but £16mil in the kitty is a good start.

I think you need to appreciate we are at a different level to all these clubs, and consequently it’s very difficult to make that impression. If you get a chance you’ve got to take it. That’s why we end up letting players go and consider resigning them when they’ve proved themselves, just the way shit happens at a club of our stature who can afford to pick and choose and pay top dollar.

Yes we are rich and can afford that luxury, your right.

But letting these 3 players leave for what we did is still bad business. Liverpool get way more for players of less talent, that's the frustration.

Any extra cash could help with big money signings as well.

I know mate, definitely bad business, but they just don’t get the chances to increase their value at City as easily as we have such depth of squad. I know we are the worst selling club in the world, but there are mitigating circumstances too.

Oh I'm not saying they have to stay at City, all 3 had multiple successful loans and should have been sold for more, but as you agreed with "We are the worst selling club in the world", which was my initial point lol.

I get the covid circumstances, but still.

yeah because leaving him on the bench all season, then giving him a chance vs peak Salah at anfield really gave him a fair shake. Can’t recall who it was but his next game after that was Hazard or someone of that level. Pep never wanted him, plain as day.

absolutely mental as put him at wingback with Laporte, Dias, Stones and Cancelo on the other side and we’d be immense.

His market value, according to transfermrket is 31.5m, we basically sold him for half his value. Really poor sale from us. I'm not sure why we struggle so much to sell our players for their true values.

He is correct. Who the hell in this climate would offer £30m for Angelino? Literally, no one. Even Real and Barca are broke.

It's literally his value though. Can you give examples of top teams selling assets for half their market values? Truth is, we're so bad in sales it borders on negligence. Harrison with an option to buy at 10m, Pedro Porro with an option to buy at 9m (less than we purchased him for and now voted Liga NOS defender of the month for 3 months straight) are two other examples. We need to stop deluding ourselves that we're genuinely trying to maximise sales; you don't insert options to buy on assets which can improve if that's the case.

He is definitely wrong about Denayer and Tosin.

Regarding Angelino, sure, the covid climate has hit all clubs finances. That doesn't mean we didn't sell him for peanuts. Remember that Liverpool sold unproven Rhian Brewster to Sheffield for 24m during covid, and other clubs have still made decent money on sales as well (Chelsea paid alot for Havertz still). I don't think covid is FULLY enough of an excuse for how low we sold him for.

My central point stands, we are and have been shite at selling players for what their worth.

Wish him well. He never fit in our system. He can attack well, but unlike a normal wingback system he plays in, with us he still needed to defend like a LB. At that point if you want to free him of all responsibilities of defending and let him attack, then you might as well make him a winger which Pep did in some cup games. Seeing we have left sided options to defend like Laporte and Ake we might as well look for a real left footed winger.

Denayer was excellent at Celtic. Poor at Sunderland. Did quite well at Galatasaray but they played him at RB.
He should have gotten his chance after his spell at Celtic.

The fee is similar to what struggling Forest got from Villa for Matty Cash who had never played higher than the Championship in his life

Yeah I think if one tried we could find many more examples like this too.

I dont' really wanna give covid as an excuse for the clubs terrible selling of players, as we have also clearly been terrible before covid as well.

Villa have much more money than Leipzig.
Selling abroad, you get less.
Still doesnt make it a good deal.
