Currently in NZ to get a gun licence u need 2 referees to vouch for your good character and then you have a Police interview, then they decide if you do or not... what is it in the UK??

One of the reasons why I'm an anarchist rather than a minarchist (if what you're saying is that the existence of a state breaks the fundamentals of libertarianism - your post is a bit on the vague side)

I take it you're a "common ownership"-type as well, or would you prefer a system of reciprocity?

Guess you could describe my view as Voluntaryist, MarketAnarchist or AnarchoCapitalist.
If a bunch of people want to live and work in accordance with socialism tho I'm fine with that. More power to them ...just as long as they don't force me into it.

Obviously my ideal isn't going to happen in my lifetime and so you may see me arguing for minarchism when politics comes up

The one thing, call it a 'positive', that happens after these terrible massacres in American is that we see very clearly that allowing millions of legally owned firearms is a fucking stupid idea.

Apart from other countries allow people to legally own firearms including the nation we live in without these problems.

Which shows that some countries are unfit to have lax gun laws.

They have the same relaxed gun laws in Canada, and they don't have anywhere near these problems. I don't mean to sound controversial, but its more to do with the culture and mentality of the US.

Shit like this happens in Canada too. What happened here is nothing at all like this. The shooting here last weekend (about 5 mins from my house) was basically a couple of second rate shitbags decided to start shooting at each other because they (like most) don't have the fucking spine to settle an argument like men. P.S handguns are illegal here, most of them are being brought in at the U.S borders.

I cant understand why these right wing loonies dont understand that no guns means no shootings, it`s not rocket science

If in the unlikely event the USA was completely gun-free, this still leaves the deranged individual driven by the need to destroy. So in a gun-free world off he or she goes and stocks-up on fertilizer for example to manufacture their weapon of choice in order to achieve their aims. I don't see that removing guns removes the root cause.

Meanwhile South of the Border this would hardly (certainley not here) get any coverage, yet it's almost a daily occurrence in the ongoing drug war in Mexico, most of the guns used (it's illegal in Mexico to own a gun) come from the US.

If you want the definition of horror and a population that has been psychologically damaged, you should read Borderland Beat or Blag del Narco, truly tragic
