We've "left" in the way a husband and wife might go their separate ways but their is a lot of work to be done before we know how we come out of it. Don't think anyone should celebrate it being over until we see what we walk away with.

We've left in the obvious fact that the UK is not a member of the European Union anymore. It's as simple as that.

Since you're a fan of analogies, you're sounding like a jilted lover holding onto the embers of a relationship that is over. It's done.

We BRINO'd I think is what you would call it.

If were were to stay in the curent BRINO state I'd take it but as you know we default to No Deal in January. That is when Brexit really starts. Right now is just the calm before the storm.

But the bit you are missing is that in the transitional period .. every thing that was in place ... remains in place .... that is not going to be the case at the end of the transition period.

Doesn't change the fact that the UK is not a member of the European Union; it left in January.

We don't go back into the EU at the end of the transition period if we don't organise a trade deal.

Being in the transition period doesn't mean we're a member of the EU or that we didn't leave in January.

It doesn't; the UK is not regarded as being a member of the EU. That's kind of a big thing you choose to ignore.
It also does not mean the UK did not leave in January.

I accept we've left (however the Scots are still flying the European flag at Holyrood ) but All trade agreements, security agreements, travel agreements , FOM etc etc remain in place for the transition period..... so as yet the impact hasn't been felt.

I wouldn't hold onto much hope of brexit being cancelled though chief. The people have spoken. Again and again and again and again the thick ignorant racist bastards with their desires to leave the gated white man community of the EU and open our glorious nation up to the world and treat potential immigrants not on the content of their passports but on the content of their character.

Weve as good as left already, and as metal bikër said elsewhere, if there is no final agreement before december 31st we wont suddenly be rejoining. We'll still be leaving.

And it is marvellous.

I think all of us on this thread can read the tea leaves. Our current status is best described as limbo. We have 6 months left, a week is a lifetime in politics but not in the world of Brexit. There have been zero tangible changes since 2016, no unicorn solutions have been found, a donkey with an ice cream cone on its head is about to be revealed to the public. All we can do is sit back and see how it goes.

Sounds like you are suggesting that Remainers are the sorts of people to undertake violent protest??

Personally, of the many Remainers I know there are none that would behave in such a rude manner.

But - could it just be the Guardian - and of course yourself - doing the usual...…….

So the article states:

Hmmm - the Police are clearly good at planning if they were taking action specifically because of a potential no-deal Brexit out come many years later - respect to then.

The article also states:

"Sources at the force said the AEPs had been acquired because there were more firearms officers in training, resulting in existing stocks expiring.

So perhaps the reason that the Police have felt the need to buy so many more could in fact be - well, let me think, because there were more firearms officers in training, resulting in existing stocks expiring? Is that a possible explanation.

No let's make it about the potential of a No-Deal outcome in 2021, even though at the time the acceleration occurred - the negotiations were crashing towards a Brino outcome.

Do you actually ever read the stuff you link?

Also, you may understand why the Guardian is treated like a comic - no better than the Express.
