Well, that walk away option you mention, it looks like Barnier is not exactly making
progress, for some reason, the Brits won't cede their territory as a basis for 'Talks' and
the EU can not have access to it.

So, if they want a trade deal, as we've said all along, they're not getting one that involves
fishing wherever they like, and I get the feeling they're finally getting the message.
It's my belief there will be a FTA, but we'll soon find out.

You mean the let's have fewer white and more black and Asian immigrants bill? It doesn't worry me but they'd never have won with that on the side of a bus. Or the let's cut the workforce in care homes bill. Or the clean your own office bill. Or the crops rotting in the fields and food price hike bill.
 
I see the government have published their new tariff regime. Cars imported from Europe will have 10% applied, and lamb, beef and poultry will also have WTO tariffs applied. Obviously the same will apply to our exports.

But don’t worry, we’re getting rid of tariffs on a raft of items like dishwashers, screwdrivers, mirrors and Christmas trees where we might save anything from 2.5% to 7%. Except the chances are we won’t save a penny because importers will need to demonstrate compliance with our new non-EU regulations. That won’t cost nothing. Also the inevitably weaker pound will make all imports more expensive even if tariffs are cut for some of them.

Anyway, maybe there’s still time for the German car makers to come to the rescue and force a deal like all the brexperts have told us will happen.

Its actually the lets have fewer Polish, Hungarian and Latvian immigrant bill. The absolute irony is its likely to bring in more black and Asian immigrants. We will need immigrants to fill higher paid vacancies such as doctors - how many of them do you already see that Asian? I can imagine that part of getting a trade deal with places like India will be a insistence on taking some of their citizens in to work so the funny thing is Brexit will like as not increase the number of black or brown or Muslim immigrants into the UK.

Were they ever after "fishing wherever they like"? The aim was to maintain quotas to prevent overfishing (international obligations) but I'd be surprised if the EU expected just to maintain the status quo (hence the parallel with arrangements with other non-EU "coastal states" *). The small print in that article has a hint of moderation - "Mr Frost will publish British negotiating texts and legal drafts this week so that EU governments are aware of possible trade offs on fishing and 'level playing field' demands on other regulations".

* There's a serious problem though as such arrangements do assume the parties are trustworthy, and we seem to be openly trumpeting our readiness not to stick to agreements.

Whether the thread is worth it probably depends on whether you think Brexit is "done" and/or whether ordinary citizens now have no say on trying to avert the damage that the government knows about but won't release. (They certainly are not "following the economics".)

He's just rehashing an attempt at a scare story that was oft peddled by remainers in the run up to the referendum that they lost. Basically "if you vote leave theyll open the floodgates to more Muslims as we will have to fill the vacancies that will no longer be going to those nice white Europeans"

Thankfully the majority of the British voting public, about 52% of them, took no notice as they are not the racist ones in this, and instead took the view that managed immigration is a necessary fact of life at the moment and potential immigrants should be judged, not on the contents of their passport, but on the contents of their skills and characters.

It was one of the proudest moments of my life as a Briton that hate, fear, ignorance, and racism was defeated by the leave side.

I'm sure you know what the argument is here but let's say it again. It's that if Leave had been open about that Brexit would mean fewer white Europeans but more black and Asian immigrants, the result would have been different.

I know all the Leavers on here are happy about this non-discriminatory policy but you all know you'd have lost with that on the side of a bus.

If remain had spent less time yelling how racist all leave voters where the result would have been different.

A lesson still not learnt by many unfortunately.

I can handle different political opinions and move on but being called a racist...well those twats can fuck off.

Warms me greatly that the most vocal of them are forever going to be nothing but noisy shouters from the sidelines of British politics.
