Another new Brexit thread

Ah yes Dominic the master of Brexit.

Fills me full of confidence that the Government know exactly what they are doing.

Of course, the truth is they haven't got a fucking clue, just like the muppet who posts relentlessly on this thread. They put me in mind of salesmen who have no idea how their product works but just keep telling anyone who'll listen how great it is.

What a time to be alive.

Fully agree. Brexit is an arseholes gambit with no upside or even plan for an upside (other than getting the dirty foreigners out of our fishing waters). We seem to be locked in to no deal, anyone with an ounce of common sense can see it will be a disaster. All will be revealed in the next 6 months, all we can really do is sit back and watch.

Nope mate - we will all feel the damage and we will know whom to blame - sadly for Leave some of its chief supporters like Farage and Stanley Johnson plan to move to France once its done and dusted - they aren't stupid. Anyway wherever Stanley is I bet our PM ends up hiding in the fridge in the annexe before too long.
You don't do detail do you...………..

"Stanley Johnson, a former MEP who voted Remain in the referendum, has requested to become a French citizen ….."

I, along I'm sure with lots of other people, will fully and unequivocally accept your "leavers own it all" comment re future job losses after a no deal provided YOU and all remainers fully and unequivocally accept any and all job losses from the date we joined the EEC/EU to present.
Or, if you prefer, if you can fully and unequivocally guarantee that remaining in the EU from this day forward can and will ensure that not one single person in the nation will ever again lose their job then I will, from this day forward, actively and passionately campaign for remain.
I mean, if job losses after leaving are solely as a result of leaving them surely job losses whilst a member are solely the result of being a member?
If you cannot do either of those things then perhaps you might accept that job losses happen for a variety of reasons and whether leave or remain, job losses are sadly a fact of modern day life and if we leave with no deal - some people will suffer job losses, if we remain - some people will suffer job losses.

MiIllions of people in this country were thrown out of work in , amongst other industries, manufacturing, during the 80's as a result of govt policies. This happened whilst we were a member of the EU. Was this the EU's fault?

The Thatcher govt was instrumental in setting up, campaigning for, and launching us into the single market. The single market was, is, and forever will be a creation of thatcherism. It has done its job fantastically well. Destroyed collective bargaining, destroyed wages, made millions dependant on the whims of their company executives. Exactly as it was created to do.

Wanting out of this, in the doublespeak of today, makes me a right wing Tory apparently.

I've said before and I'll say again. The EU is a construct for rabid Thatcherites who don't want people to know they are rabid Thatcherites.
You make some excellent points - aka "inconvenient truths"

I have, for years now, regarded the 'so-called hard-left' posters on here as basically KFAs

Only, before your input, @Rascal has been an example of an hard-left poster that has ever shown even an inkling of how EU membership is an inhibitor to achieving a socialist state.

So many on here are just faux hard-left/serial protestors that actually know fuck all about the detail.

The UK have tabled their proposal for a future relationship/trade deal with very ambitions asks on Services and security. Even the tariff proposal goes way beyond Canada. This is what Barnier/EU and member states are reacting too.

Here is the Govt link with the updated trade proposals published on 19th May for public consumption.

And - your point is.....?

A fairly good read and well worth pointing out a document that reflects the UK starting to actually act as an independent nation and stop toadying to the EU diktats - so thanks for reminding us

Just had a bit of a catch up with brexit news as tbh I've (like many I suppose) paid more attention to virus news recently. It does seem like the UK are being inflexible and wanting their cake and to eat it in terms of retaining benefits after leaving - I don't feel this is realistic. For their part the EU seem to be making demands which under normal circumstances you would only accept after losing a war. They too seem unbending and seem prepared to weaponise the status of ex pats which seems poor. If I can put aside my mad right wing racist little England mentality for just a moment, it does seem both sides need to cede ground for mutual benefit.

I have no idea what you are talking about in reference to a post on *checks notes* a fisheries deal.
Whilst I am not surprised....

This is still a strange post as - in my post that you reply to - I do not refer at all to:

"... *checks notes* a fisheries deal"

Perhaps you have just had a hard day looking for articles on Newsnow that are critical of Brexit - or is that @Ifwecouldjust....... ??? that does that? - it is getting harder to tell some posters apart

mate these are little people with no life.they have a particularly weak moral fibre.their hero got spanked at the polls and it hurts,so they deflect . i am old, grey and severely disabled but i'd rather be me all day long.

….but I draw the line at posters deliberately mis-quoting people that I respect for the purpose of scoring cheap political points

I am sure that @west didsblue will eventually recognise the need to do the 'right thing' and offer you a full apology - at least I hope he realises the need to do that

As you appear to be addressing that at me I was wondering what hero of mine got spanked at the polls. Corbyn’s a **** and Johnson’s a bigger ****. If they could both have lost that would have been the ideal result.

At least you have the courage to stand behind your hero, Johnson, even though nearly everyone else now thinks he’s a useless dick. The ones without moral fibre are those that slate Johnson but are happy he’s leader just because he’s delivering Brexit.
Another strange post - that is clearly more of an attempt at distraction.....

You state that @Bill and myself held the view that:

".....getting Brexit done takes precedence over having a competent government that would have a better chance of saving British citizens’ lives..."

are you maintaining that?

If not - IMO, you should apologise - at least to @Bill.

Personally I couldn't give a shit (although I accept that you will probably use that to mis-represent what I have actually said)
