Another new Brexit thread

I guess there is time for this to change so that UK citizens with a second home in Europe get parity with EU citizens who have second homes here (I think I’ve understood correctly that is the position).

Would be interesting to hear from any bluemooners who find themselves potentially affected by this, especially advocates of Brexit to see if they are happy it’s a fair price for our relative new freedom and opportunities . Does anyone know of any?

my neighbours are still wailing .... they voted leave ..... its f@cking delicious..... there goes their 6 months in tenerife over winter.

It isn’t even 180 days in a 12 month period.
It’s 90 days in 180 days.
The clock starts the day you arrive. 90 days later you have to leave and not return for a further 90 days.
So in any 6 month period you can only be there for 3 months.
You cannot go for 6 consecutive months in a year.
The least of my concerns as far as Brexit goes

Really bad news for all of us that go to second homes for 6 months at a time. Obviously no effect whatsoever for the vast majority of holidaying Brits.

Same.

Our economy is far more important and selfishly I don’t go on holiday for 3 weeks, never mind months so I’m not that arsed.

I am sure you’ll get a working visa if anyone needs one.

My concern is a no deal impacting the economy and us losing more colleagues on top of this horror show of a year.

Agree there are probably more important things to worry about. I'd imagine some sort of annual long-stay visa costing between €80-100 would be one possible solution for those wishing to stay longer than three months per year in their second homes. I wonder if such a thing exists in most EU countries?
