Summary execution for petty theft?

Harsher than sharia law.

What if they're a ten year old child?

Then no. However, that's not much younger than the Bulger killers and I have a toddler who is the same age as Jamie Bulger was

Simple.

I wouldn't have people executed for petty theft. However I believe people should have the right to use lethal force to protect their family from an intruder. It's all about the risk of harm to the family.

Most parents would agree with me on this.

I think most parents would agree that you should have the right to use reasonable force.

Which you already do.

My point is that whenever people assert that you should be able to use lethal force 'come what may' they don't actually mean that, because no two situations are the same.

That is why the term 'reasonable force' is perfectly constructed. If it is reasonable to use lethal force in the circumstances you find yourself then that is lawful. And who decides if it's reasonable?

Jurors. Homeowners like you and me.

Why anyone would want to tinker with that is beyond me.
