It depends on the system I'd say. At 22 Rakitic wasn't good enough to play for them. Same with Modric and Kroos at Real.

If Saurez keeps improving at the rate he is doing, who knows. I do know that he is very highly thought of in Spain.

Either way, squad player at Barca isn't too shabby haha.

The thing is, there have been loads of 'squad' players at Barca, rags & everywhere who are nowhere near good enough to play in City's team.

That doesn't stop successful clubs from using them to supplement their team. It seems to have stopped us for years though.

It was a City tradition, same as rags, Barca etc. Hopefully now with the kids we are signing or trying to sign & those coming through our academy, we will get back to once again being famous for bringing through young players.
