Anxiety attacks

Did you learn to control them through your own willpower or did you have any guidance/support?
Just on my own completely. Didn't even tell friends or relatives what was going on although they must have known something was up I suppose. I read Steve Coogan's autobiography recently. He mentions that he went through a phase of them, I suspect it was probably around the same time I did. He went to a doctor straight away and got help and advice and came through them very quickly. In retrospect I wish I had done that, it would have saved me a year or so of shit. But I didn't speak to anyone because quite frankly I thought I was going mad.

Cheers mate. I'm going to try that. As you say, could be useful for absolutely anyone.

Edit. Just checked and it has no reviews and appears to have bugs too. Makes me wary. Is it the Headspace by Flatback Films or do you mean something else?

No mate, its "Headspace meditation limited". The logo is an orange circle on a white back ground

Im not sure if theres reviews for it on apple, but theres plenty for android if youre wary https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.getsomeheadspace.android&hl=en_GB

Well done for conquering it then.

Right, thanks. Looks like it's android only but I have an android tablet as a spare and will try it.

In the meantime I downloaded a meditation app to iPad and will try it out tonight.

Just had a look, its on the apple store too "Headspace - guided meditation"

Yep. I don't tend to struggle with heavy breathing or chest pains like others but I do come down with an overwhelming sense of dread and an urgent need to just get out of wherever I am.

Not had one for a while (maybe 18 months) but I think that's more down to me avoiding situations that cause them than anything else.

for those of you who like a drink get yourself a taste for hoppy beers

yep i get them from time to time. id go along with what other posters have said you feel like your going to die ( thats how i feel anyway). my heart starts to race, i have to get out of the room and i also become very light headed and my vision starts to go blurry. Ive just started counseling for anxiety and depression, its taken me years to admit that i have problems like this. but it got to the point where it was having a serious effect and still is on my life. id say no one should feel embarrassed about looking for help.
