Any Anime/Manga fans here?

Just watched one called Seven deadly sins, typical Shouen Japanese anime (currently on Netflix), I enjoyed it 7/10

Watching one called Re:Zero, if you manage to catch the uncensored versions it's pretty brutal like Attack on Titan, first episode has some guy getting a broken glass shoved into his neck! It's drawn me in as well, sat up last night and before I knew it I was 6 episodes into it!

I used to be obsessed with Anime/Manga, I've not seen much recently though, I keep getting recommended Full Metal Alchamist though.

About 5 years ago, I remember James Cameron bleating on about making a manga film and the one he was going on about was "Battle Angel: Alita" (now called "Alita: Battle Angel"!) Obviously, since then, "Ghost in the Shell" is about to drop, so Cameron clearly didn't have the CGI capable of doing what he wanted.

Apparently Robert Rodriguez is attached as director and it's due out next year.

It could be interesting... IF they stick to character origins.

*edit: it's been Americanised, of course.

And delay was also due to the "Avatar" sequels.

I never got into Ghost in The Shell but a few mates of mine love it and one mate of mine who is a huge fan is expecting the Hollywood film to be an absolute shambles!

Not sure what Alita is either, but think I'll look it up!

Not really been into Anime throughout my life but I just decided to watch one called Baki which I really enjoyed. Kengan Ashura was another one and just finished Back Lagoon which was amazing.

Anyone seen any of them or if not but you're into Anime, what do you recommend to watch next?

I don't watch anime, but way back when in the days when the people I was surrounded by did watch anime, I recall Attack on Titan; Samurai Champloo; Claymore; One Piece; and Space Dandy being the talk of the town.

I'm afraid I have no idea if they're on Netflix or actually any good. But seeing as noone else bothered to reply I thought I'd chime in.

Going off what you've listed here I would suggest checking out the following (with the proviso that I don't know if they're available on Netflix or not):

Gungrave, Berserk, Attack on Titan

Also there's the classics that anyone checking out anime should look in on:

Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun

You could also check on websites like MyAnimeList as they give off recommendations for similar anime titles.

Cheers mate. I've watched Attack on Titan and that is amazing. Any idea when the next season is out?

Cheers mate I will check out that site

My daughter's watching them all the time, especially one about volleyball (don't know what it's called). She hates sport, but gets all excited about the outcome of cartoon volleyball. Go figure?

I’m not a big anime fan but I did enjoy Elfen Lied. It has an amazing theme song, too.

Time to list some of my favourites from back in the day that haven't been mentioned so far...

Juuni Kokki (12 Kingdoms) - Best character development I've seen in any visual medium
Death Note - Imaginative and well developed
Steins;Gate - So much fun
Gankutsuou - Count of Monte Cristo adaptation (artwork takes some getting used to)
Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Graphically dated but amazing storytelling
