Any Long Covid sufferers on here?

Struggled badly this morning. I had an hour dental appointment (been fighting for this) for root canal treatment at 10:30 am. Bad day again...I managed to crawl out of bed and into a cold shower..but my muscles are in pain and I'm short of breath. SO....I walked the 30 mins to the dentist (10 min walk usually)...very slowly and unsteadily, but got there dead on time, only to find that I don't have an appointment today - it's in a few weeks. Duh! My brain just doesn't work anymore. I fucking hate this condition, illness, "imaginary in my head" bullshit "caused by the vaccine" ( ;)) "oh your just getting old"..."I'm tired too, you know?"
I've just realised...i can't look after myself any more. I NEED my family.
That's a nightmare all around, toothache is horrible! Hope you get sorted soon and can get some support for your long covid, try and take no notice of the trolls.

nothing seems to be working for me.

proper flat at the moment, struggling to keep on top of work.

Manage to do one 5/6k run (i used to do 3/4 runs a week) and I'm shattered.

Been working in boxing drills but now my arms are killing so much!

Antihistamines have helped some people, have you tried them?

what strength type?

I tent to take them every day when wearing my contact lenses
I don't know...I mentioned it to my doctor, and he put me on Cetirizine DI-hydrocholride 10mgs a day for 6 months. They did nothing for me but apparently they've helped others..

I had it about as bad as possible and still be here to tell the tale, 3 months away from the business had to force myself back to work, when i got out of hospital couldn't walk downstairs without getting out of breath. Consider myself really lucky that I don't now feel any long term affects and my breathing is more or less back to normal. Hope everybody who's suffering with this long term illness fully recovers.

Cheers mate 99% right if not more, not bad really for 3 weeks in induced coma. Family told to expect the worst, still out on site most days it’s blowing a flippin gale in Wales :-). Hoping it’s something that drastically improves for you and anyone who’s suffering. Anyone who don’t think exists is a proper dick.

you had it quite bad then! My sister lost her fiance after being out in an induced coma. Thankfully she's found someone new and married them after all her heartbreak.

Yeah, I seem to have a few weeks of being better and then crash right down again.

out of curisoity, did you have any of the jabs? All this happened to me after having teh 2nd and 3rd jabs

Only just got in so sorry for late response, I caught it right at the start before the jabs arrived. After I recovered I had first 4 jabs, first one made me ill for two days second one nothing 3 and 4 was ill again for a couple of days didn't bother with last years. Did donate a pint of blood to both Manchester and Edinburgh university's for the research programmes and twice had a pint of plasma removed as a last resort treatment enough to treat 16 people according to consultant until my antibody levels dropped ( not pleasant that). Managed to catch covid again a couple of years ago not even as bad as a cold.

Following a bout of COVID in May, I’ve been left with Parosmia,
Things smell different than they should, coffee smells like burnt rubber or sewage! Also smelling things that aren’t there at all (e.g., constantly smelling smoke or rotten food).
Apparently this is quite common, as the olfactory system heals, it can “rewire” incorrectly or incompletely, leading to these distortions.
Every day smells Coffee, meat, onions, garlic, chocolate, toothpaste smell rotten or metallic, it’s disgusting and makes me want to vomit!
Hopefully it will settle and return to near normality soon…

I'm a big fan of the phrase 'studying Youtube videos.' Presumably a module from the Do Your Own Research Department of the University of Life.

As far as Youtube channels are concerned, Physics Girl is a good one to follow. She used to do great educational physics videos, and then contracted long covid so the channel has largely been about that. It really shows how much it can affect previously vibrant people. Here's her most recent video:

I've parked that and will watch later - thanks for posting.
I saw a programme on the BBC a few months back about something similar. Couple of olypmpis athletes (one a rower who's career ended over long covid, and another who has been confined to bed for the past few years).

I never truly recovered from my 2021 horrid covid bout. Took months before I could walk up a flight of stairs, an a year before I could run again.
There's a girl at my old running club (ultra runner) who developed long covid a couple of years ago and was no longer able (and was advised by doctors not to) run again. Ended up quite depressed about it all and eventually took up painting.
I actually heard last week she's starting to see positive signs of recovery and is back doing some light cycling. Cheered me up hearing that tbh.

I did mange to kick start my running eventiually and was getting good times on the track, but never reached my peak. However, as of this year the last run I did was on New Years day. I got hit my 3-4 viruses over winter and the last one (whatever it was) knocked me out. I've a combination of POTs and extreme lethargy and cannot do ANY cardio whatsoever.

Still doing yoga and pilates to keep me supple/stretched and did a 30km walk the other week (and regularly do 50,000 steps over the weekend) but can't raise my HR and this exhaustion is horrible (just about hang on at work).

I tested positive for Covid for the first time in September 2023, it was no worse than a mild dose of flu at the time. But I started feeling tired for no reason a few months later, had problems with my digestive system and started getting vertigo for the first time. Even stairs began to scare me. I got a hospitality ticket to see City at Bournemouth’s ground early 2024 and because there are no handrails I struggled to balance on the way out, so my grandson helped me. Eventually I couldn’t keep my food down, had hospital checks over the next year or so and apart from a couple of minor issues, they couldn’t identify any real cause for concern. I have recovered somewhat but still have balance issues. I can’t say it was long Covid but I can’t help feeling this was the trigger.
