Anybody recommend a telescope that won’t cost a planet?

Has anyone been able to see any of the other planets? They are supposed to be visible or at least some should be at sunset over the next week or so.

They were paired last night also.....maybe that is last night?
No it was instead of the sunset about 10 days ago they were all in a line, Moon then Mars and Jupiter in the distance. Amazing

Yeah, the moon mate.I actually took the photos with my mobile through the eyepiece.....hardest thing in the world to do.
Can attach a camera to the back of the telescope,so I'm gonna get one.
I always struggle with the phone on a scope, some people though seem to have no problem at all , saw a really good one of Jupiter somebody took with their phone on the eyepiece.

I put a link in an earlier post, have a look at it.
Just put the area you live and it tells you everything you need to know.
Star walk 2 is also a good app to have,it alerts you regards everything you will be able to see.

You move it so a star is in the eyepiece and press align, then do it to another 2 stars.
The telescope then works out what it has seen and where it is and thats it.
Takes 2 minutes to align.
Then just pick a menu off the handset.....Solar system, deep space, galaxys, whatever, press enter and it moves itself and points right at what you want to see.
Wow that sounds excellent for beginners

Anyone thinking of doing astronomy/star gazing,at any level....do it.
Ive always been a bit of a rum un,all my life.
But also done this stuff.
Nobody expected me to be a closet star gazer.
My mates call and take the piss.
I say, have a look......the facial expressions people pull when they first look through a telescope is second to none.
Had about 3 mates buy one now.
Get a chimnea though,best time is winter,IMO.
My handset has a long cable on it,so i get warm while im looking through the menu or its moving.

Its brilliant mate, had it a while now and will probably get the 8se.
Will keep the 4se for when my grandson is a bit older.....very easy to use.
Looks like that model is available second hand for about £300

I asked previously but should I be put off of Buying a second hand one.

Was thinking that a good bargain could be had, suspect it’s the sort of thing that some people (with money) buy as a hobby toy but use infrequently

Im no expert mate,it was about £1,800 when i got mine.
Looks like you can pick them up far about £500 now.
Maybe a few quid on top depending on software.
Think they started at 40k objects as free software, anything above was a bit extra...60,70k whatever.
May of changed though now.
