Anybody seen a ghost or had a paranormal experience?

Not read the whole thread so don’t know if anyone’s told the one about where someone stumbles across a person, usually in a car or another vehicle. Sometimes they’re a hitchhiker. Sometimes they run them over. Other times they just stop when they see them at the side of the road.

There’s hundreds of variants on it. But it always ends up with the person suddenly disappearing and they somehow find out that someone died at that exact spot many years ago.

Let me be clear, I think it’s all bollocks. But at the same time, I can’t help wondering why so many people are all inventing near enough the exact same story?

My conclusion is that I don’t think they are all inventing it. I think they genuinely believe it happened. The question we don’t know the answer to is how perfectly rational people can come to that frame of mind?
Kind of sums up religion really.
They roll away the stone and he’s not there.
It’s a miracle….. not grave robbing.

But it doesn't mean it isn't, one has to look at thing as the evidence is provided, saying it's all make believe is just a throw away statement without looking at all the facts
True...but nobody can claim "supernatural" as there isn't anything known to be "supernatural". We've never found anything supernatural, so it isn't an option when looking at all the evidence.

What “facts”?
People’s interpretations of what they saw are notoriously unreliable.

Ahhh someone using the words “facts” and “evidence” without a hint of irony.

Missed you Ducado :-)

Yes. About 10 years ago. I didn't see an "apparition" it was more of a "shiver" that walked across the room.
It was very strange, made me feel ill. Quite disturbing.

I'd never really bought into ghosts at that point.

Why can't people accept that (as yet) Science can't explain everything?

There are for example sounds that dogs can hear that we can't. There are even sounds a 17-year-old can hear that we older people can't. Do these sounds not exist?

We only know they exist because Science has developed machines to measure them. But for thousands of years, no such machines existed. The sounds still did though.

I haven't personally, but the wife has. Regularly. She is from the wider royal family here (and it is a WIDE family), five generations from Yul Brynner, if you get my drift. Her uncle was a shaman to the late king, giving spiritual advice, and he wanted her to join him as she was one of the few in the family to have "the gift". For her pains she married me instead. Hasn't seen her uncle since.

Anyway, she regularly sees ghosts and she can hear them talk to her. I believe she believes what she says and I have seen her physical reactions, although these may be explainable physiologically, of course. She also sees snapshots of what will happen in her life and of her death. And she connects with her past lives, reincarnation being a Buddhist thing, of course.

What do I think? Well, I either married a fruitcake, or there is something in it. I don't believe science knows everything yet and there may be discoveries in this area still to be made. Just saying there is no scientific evidence now so it's all rubbish is just as bad as saying it's all true. Possibly worse.

So that's my story. Go ahead and laugh if you want to. I don't particularly care what you cunts think anyway :)
