Anyone any advice for things to do in Cornwall?

Indeed. Pastie shop on the harbour sells meat one end, banana the other. Imagine!

Pop over to Portmellon. Got a mate who lives 50 yards from the pub. Tiny harbour. Brilliant in the summer, shit in the winter.
Your Mate, 'Tiny' Harbour, is brilliant in the summer and shit in the winter?...I'll bet you call him Tiny cos he's huge yeh?

Go to the Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor, take in the old prison and you can scare the kids lol
There is so much to do,ask in the pub and/or local tea room they will tell you where is good to go
You are Daphne Du Maurier, and I claim my prize.
Hopefully Jamaica Inn isn't the one with Blind Pugh and the black spot is it?

I am just fed up of the med and fancied doing something a bit different! Quite excited.

Next time you go I can recommend you ditch the caravan and go to http://www.gwelanmor.com/

They have a great farm on site where you can get up close to loads of stuff but the bats and hand feeding foxes were an absolute joy.

We've been there 3 times now and would happily go back.

Join the National Trust if you are not already a member, it will save you a lot of money in parking charges at coastal places.

Heligan Gardens are great, and there's lots for the kids to do there as well.

If you are Padstow you can hire bikes and go on the Camel trail (disused railway turned into a cycle path) and reward yourself with Rick Stein fish'n'chips when you are done.

Great shout re joining National Trust. If you are just using it for parking get one of the kids a membership and you will easily recoup cost in a week. The NT have loads of propertys and coastal parking in Cornwall.

When I say caravan - I haven't actually seen it. It is a 3 bedroom lodge and is costing a grand plus for a week so i am hoping it is nice! Setting off later tonight stopping in Cotswolds for a night to break the journey up and get an early start down in the morning. Cheers for all the tips - made some good notes and going to explore!

St Mawes is worth a visit, good ferry service from Falmouth. I used to live in the cream coloured house in the centre of this pic. right on the harbourside, loved it there
