Anyone any advice for things to do in Cornwall?

Good thread this.

I go down myself next Saturday, never been down before taking Mrs Gaz, 11 and 5 year old mini Gaz's were staying in Hayle so anything interesting to do round there with the nippers is much appreciated.

Hayle is ideally situated for Lands End penninsula. Lands End itself isnt really worth a visit, over commercialised. St Ives is very close to you and is great to wander about but gets very busy. Definitely visit Minnack Theatre and Porthcurno which are right next to each other. Just beyond them is Porth Chapel beach which is about a 10 minute walk down from a car park at St Levans church. Lovely quiet beach. If you get the weather the kids will love the many beaches. Very close to you is a massive expanse of beach that stretches to Godrevy. At the Godrevy end there are loads of rock pools etc.
At Lelant about 2 miles from Hayle is Coast 2 Coast Go Karting. Best check if 5 yr old is allowed on though.
Drive to Kynance Cove and try to arrive a couple of hours before low tide. Best beach in Britain without a doubt, again a bit of a walk down to it but well worth it.Plenty of boat trips out of St Ives and Penzance. We've been on one called Marine Discovery out of Penzance a few times. Not guaranteed to see wildlife but invariably do, seals, basking sharks, dolphins etc.
We have been going for years and just go exploring coastline, it is absoultely stunning. Have a great time.
Cannot stress enough about setting off very early. Need to be past Bodmin by 10am ideally or you will be stuck for ages where A30 goes to single lane and has roadworks.

Cheers Steve, really appreciate the advice. I'll squeeze in as many of them as I can in a week!

Yeah I think 4am is the departure time from Manchester should easily get me down there for 10

Cornwall is awesome WW - plenty to do for both adults and kids. Much has already been touched on but St Michael's Mount as already stated is well worth a visit. Lands End is a bit shit but I'd still go just to say you've been. There's no shortage of cracking beaches - Perranporth is one of my faves but it gets mad busy so you may be best off trying to seek out a quieter one. Padstow is a great place if you're a foodie - it seems that Rick Stein has his moniker on half the eateries there. Try his chippy if you're eating on the go - the fish and chips are to die for and the tartare sauce is something else. We went in one of his shops and got a jar of the best piccalilli I've ever tasted. And if you want something more discerning book a table at his Seafood restaurant - I've not been but I'm led to believe you won't be disappointed.

the only time I've been I stayed with a load of hippies in an old farm who had the biggest crop of drugs you've ever seen.

I'm sure your kids will enjoy the hospitality if you can find them. Oh, and I saw Andrew Ridgely in a supermarket car park, which was nice.

Go to Mevagissey. Lovely place well worth a walk round.
