Actually you are wrong there mate. Even though Turkish Lira is the national currency the Euro is the money of choice out there. Since the Lira was devalued via decimalisation virtually every outlets main preference is Euro, Dollars or Sterling. In fact the majority of all pricing is in Euros.
Since my holiday to Sharm el Sheikh was cancelled last November I've travelled twice to Side in Antalya and am going again on the 7th October to the Sensimar Barut Andiz. Great weather and a beautiful place with 2,000 years of history for a cracking price - can't wait :)

Ffs, this is what does it for me, just fuck that.

When i was a kid we were in the Hotel Los Patos in Benalmadena and their were shots fired about 2am roughly 400m up the road. My mum said it was Basque separatists but i never did find out the truth, i was about 8ish so 1990 or so, that was enough for me. I remember now as i think of it more, i thought 'fuck, im a kid with my mum, if they come this way i am gonna die'. It carried on for a good 5 mins with a load bang mixed in and then more cops than you could shake a hundred sticks at roared past.

I am going to call my mother and ask about it tomorrow actually as it is hazy in my head but i do remember feeling helpless to an extent and that was the worst feeling ever, not that i could have used it effectively then but i wished to fuck i had a gun, that went through my head to.

to be honest like many countries traders will take any currency they also like the pound .but because you getting nearly 4tl to the pound you much better geting lira .you get so much more for your money.because the exchange rate is so good it not suprising they want euros.pounds ect not been to Side for a while great place have a great time weather still great at that time of the year.

Not a chance i'd go in this current climate, I know its not all bad and the media make it seem worse than it is but its one of those countries where circumstances could change at anytime. Couldn't relax in a place like that knowing how unstable the place is. I picture things long term; if there was another military coup and they closed the airports, would I want to be stuck in Turkey...not a chance.

i take the realistic view there wont be another coup the airports wont close and no-one will be stuck in Turkey .you cant help but relax in Turkey it so chilled out and everyone so freindly

Given the recent and on-going gang wars in Manchester i'd say you're more likely to get shot here.
A few of my friends have been to Turkey this year and loved it. My neighbour is going tomorrow for the third time this year.
 
The Syrian tourist board released a video the other week, why even bother? There is no chance anyone is going there for a holiday

Similar here .... a day in Marmaris and Icmeler .... horrendous places. Been so many times since about 1994, Dalyan mostly, but also Kas and Kayakoy too .... beautiful places and met some great people there too .... Already booked for next June.
