Anyone been to Turkey this year?

Went to belek in august going again in october it's brilliant anyone who says it's a shit hole has either never been or simply thick

I travelled to Beijing earlier this year via Ataturk with Turkish airlines.
3-4 days after my arrival in Beijing Ataturk airport was attacked by the 3 murderous suicide bombers, which shook me up a bit.
I have never stayed in Turkey, but can only say that the cabin crew on the flights were wonderful and I felt a great deal of sympathy for them. They were excellent ambassadors for their country, so much so that I even thought about visiting the country one day.
On the return journey I looked for signs of damage caused by the atrocity, but saw nothing. Security seemed to be at the same level as the outward journey.
A day later, back in blighty, and the reports of an attempted military coup made the news.
More tragedy, and this time by their own countrymen!
One day I may visit Turkey, but not for a while I think.
Incidentally I was working in Manchester some years ago when the 2 IRA bombs exploded. That rocked me, I can tell you.
Attacks can happen anywhere, but these days I try not to go near potential trouble spots.

and there was i ecpecting a sensible answer oh dear

It's the truth. People I know who say they like Turkey have invariably only visited Istanbul (admittedly it's an incredible city) or the Med resorts.

Having spent over a year in total in other parts of Turkey I can say without doubt it was a fucking dump and the only time the locals were friendly was when they were after your money.

I want to know your whereabouts at all times, so I can avoid anywhere you've just been.
