Anyone experienced Shingles

Had shingles. Down the back, left hand side round to my belly. Took a couple of months to stop being painful. It still itches occasionally. Everyone is different, some people only a couple of weeks, rarely a lot longer. I hope yours is over soon.

Had it about 6 months ago. Still got faint marks on my back where it was and still get some itching.
It was bloody awful and painful

That was just my back. It went around under my armpit to the front as well
The pic is when it was past it's worst as well. It was horrible at it's peak

The wife had the jab a few weeks ago - knocked her for 6 for about 4 / 5 days and lots of pain in the arm she had the jab in. She wants me to get it but her experience has put me off!
I had them without any side affects, not even a sore arm, get er done

Had had the vaccination, which at that time was a single jab. Few years later developed shingles up the right side of my face and into my eye. Brilliant attention from NHS. Went to the local pharmacist on Saturday morning for ointment for red eye. Advised me that it could be shingles and told me to make an emergency appointment with my optician. She referred me to the on duty ophthalmologist at the hospital who gave lots of eye drops and a prescription for antiviral drug. Pharmacy at Morrisons still open so started antiviral treatment the same evening. Uncomfortable for three or four days but nothing like what other people I know have had, thanks to the vaccination and the rapid treatment. Still quite a lot of tiredness but this could also have been due to the Covid that came on just as the shingles was receding!

it's a virus
but you cannot catch shingles from someone with shingles.

it can lay dormant in you for a long time without ever appearing.
a healthy immune system keeps it in check.
but when you damage your immune system
(antibiotic consumption being a prime candidate)
they are ready to flare up.
all you need to add to the pot is stress and they will appear.

I had it some years ago. Itching, tiredness and painful shoulder.
It’s doing the rounds at the moment so get the jab.

I had it about 20 years ago, it was painful but I was lucky because it was just around my neck. Whenever My immune system is challenged (flu etc) the spots still flare up.
