Anyone fancy us for 5th next season?

5th has to be the bare minimum expectation if we are to make the signings we're linked to.

A top striker added to the team we have at the moment would probably be enough to get us 5th. Villa and Everton are nothing special.

Until we can get the defense sorted out, no. I love the DunneyMonster like the next guy, but is he a top 4 central defender?? We gave up way too many soft goals last season and we had too many performances devoid of any "steel". We all know the top clubs end up grinding out a lot of 1-0's along the way and pile up the points. No matter what team sport you talk about-defense always travels well.

if we get two top quality strikers, or even one prolific one with all round attributes then i believe our first 11 is better than arsenals.

You sure? Clichy, Toure, Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, Eduardo and Van Persie would all get in our team

quality players granted. some are over rated because they are the traditional top 4. they have a spine of gallas toure, fab, ade. that would grace any team no arguements.

Clichy i rate as a outstanding prospect. Nasri s overrated in my opinion and players such as barry/de jong will cancel him and fab out on a good day. on another day they will come out on top.

van persie. flatters to deceive. seriously. and always injured. i wouldnt have him.

ade yes of course. new drogba. rate him very highly. attitude questionnable but would deffo take him

I just think that Arsenal have experience of making top 4 every season, they know what needs to be done. They wobbled a bit this year, but then experience prevailed and Villa fucked it while Arsenal finished strong. We need to install a winning mentality into our team, one where Villa failed this year

Our team dont have a winning mentatity like the top 4 teams. City are lucky to win 4 games on the trot. When the top 4 teams can go 20 games unbeaten it shows just how far behind of the top 4 teams we are. Face facts we are nowhere near the level of Arsenal and it will take another 5 years to get there.

You are right, but on paper, we have some good defenders.

Your goal next season should be to settle the squad , achieve a top 6 or 7 finish , and reassess if needed .
You can only change the course of the top 5 when you play against them . That's 28 games where it is out of your hands what they do .

They won't stop winning their other matches just because City have built a squad , and you won't start winning those 28 matches yourselves untill Hughes has had a chance to see them play together .

2010-2011 season should see a good year for City if things go to plan . Everything else is a bonus , so give Hughes time and don't heap pressure on him by wanting things too soon .

Things didn't happen over night with any of the top 5 either .
