I'm just starting to pack now, wondering why bother wearing jeans and hoping some shops might be selling shorts still! Leave Manchester tomorrow at 2pm.

:o)

Just want to tell that wearing shorts will attract public eyes here.

My first day in this country, I went down from my flat to buy drink just couple of buildings away.
When I was in the shop, some womans waiting outside, don't want to come inside.
When I strolled from the shop back home, truck driver drove car slowly and stared at my legs.
When I passed by a watch man of my buildings, he looked at me from head to feets.

Finally I realise that it may not be against laws but it is against public eyes here.
And man legs look attractive for many Pakistan here (sorry to name nation)

Ive been working here now for nearly 6 months and wear shorts most weekends and never had any issues.

I would wear shorts as if you live in Manchester you wont have another chance for a while!

I've spoke to various people and they haven't said anything about not wearing shorts. Even at the BBQ with the players etc at the Emirates Palace, they said that shorts and City shirts are fine to wear. Even at the VIP seating in the stadium too.

Maybe it was because you have dark skin that people looked at you strange, because they'd only expect 'white tourists' to wear shorts?

lol, I have pretty white skin legs, hee hee
Really it is ok, but to be aware about this too.
Worst than this, I sat beside taxi driver in Abu Dhabi (smell pretty bad in cab)
Taxi driver touched my legs, it was happened 2 times.
Now things change but my story just for your information.

oh if they stare at woman they just stare like never before, to keep it in mind about dressing here and hope everybody enjoy the trip.

Living cost here is quite expensive for labour people (1/3 of people here), they left their family behind and stay here without wife. That's why I try not to get angry when they stare at my wife.
Enjoy your holiday.

Have been over that neck of the woods a few times and it's ok wearing shorts while out and about, just be aware that it's not acceptable to walk about with the beer bellies & man tits on show, ok around the hotel pools and on the beach but not on the streets. Also for the ladies do'nt walk about with shorts & bikini tops, t shirt or vest tops are ok, but be aware that you will get stared at, no need to be afraid it's just that a lot of the people working over there have never been outside a Muslim country and are not used to seeing so much flesh on show in public. My wife found it a bit uncomfortable at first but soon got used to it.

Just off to pack now, fly 8:10 tomorrow morning so look forward to drinks with a few of you during the coming week, bbq wednesday and Le meridien Thursday afternoon. Remember Thursday is the end of the week over there so it's very busy in all the bars.

Have a good un.

I'm in Le Meridien on Tuesday evening, so I'll make sure they've stocked up the bars ready for us all! :o)

Just doing the final bit of packing and I'll be off to the airport!

PS. This is good news, Robinho will travel with squad,

Robinho will also travel with the party but will not play as he recovers from a stress fracture that has kept him on the sidelines since the end of August.

Make me smile today.
And as per the news from official website mentioned that team traveled this morning from Manchester Airport, So they will be definitely in Abu Dhabi at 7:35pm+1 hour delay for anybody fancy to take picture, I will be there

Re CROWNE PLAZA

If you are STAYING at the hotel they will provide transport for you BUT YOU MUST INFORM THEM WHEN BOOKING OR CHECKING IN.

Sorry no deal on food and drink - Thursday is the busy night so they don't see the need to offer any promotions - sorry tried for you all.

Taxi to the ground from the centre of town (about 6 miles) no more than 5 pounds shared between 4, get a "silver cab",

Abu Dhabi golf club seems a good do for transport to and from the game but would be a trek to get there from town- however its not near anything else if you wanted to try different hotel bars.

Hope to see some of you in Heros on Thur.

Last (?) update re Crowne Plaza

Just to let you know – all Manchester City Fans staying in the hotel, will be given one free drink voucher on check-in as a welcome to the hotel. (as well as the shuttle bus)
