About 3 years ago my Dad nearly passed away, when he was in intensive care I went to the ground as Stuart Pearce was doing a signing session, I wanted to get a card with a message from him. I got greeted by this ignorant bouncer who siad he was not signing anything else. After explaining the situation and basically saying I was not leaving until he had signed something, another guy took the card to stuart and he signed it (no message though!)
I spotted John Wardle stood in the corner of the City shop so I went up to him and asked him to sign it. I explained it was for my Dad and the situation. He gave me his card and told me to send him an e-mail and he would sort some tickets out for my Dad when he was better. Top bloke!
After my Dad got out of hospital i did this. A couple of days later I got an E mail off his PA, saying that John Wardle would be delighted if me and 3 guests would join him in the Directors box against Portsmouth!!! Unbelievable, I expected some basic tickets!!!
On the day we got invited into the Directors lounge, then at half time and full time we got invited into the Chairmans lounge. We were sat with Alistor Mackintosh, Dennis Tuert, Colin Bell and Mike Summerbee! Fantastic! My Dad was in his element and got to meet his hero Colin Bell! All really nice guys!!
I always joke with my Dad I wonder what I would have got if he had died!!! Lol!!

John Wardle top bloke!!!

Stories like this make me realise just why I love city!

Similar story to yours Bluechris

In my teens during the Franny Lee chairman era I was a member of the North Wales OSC and at one meeting we had an ex player or current player at the time (can't remember who though) They had someone from the club with them called Frank Horricks who was a real gent. Anyway after the Q&A I hobbled over to the table on my crutches due to a broken leg and asked for my book to be signed and I was asked what my name was and I explained that my name was Francis Lee after the great man himself. Frank Horricks seemed impressed with that and said that Francis himself would love that fact I was named after him.

Later on Frank Horricks came over to us as we were leaving and asked if we'd like to meet Franny Lee on a match day. We obviously said yes and passed on our details. Weeks went by and nothing came of it until one day some parking tickets arrived in the post with a number to call. We were told to turn up at 1pm at a home game against QPR. We were met at the main entrance by Frank who walked my dad,bro and myself through the club to the bar where Francis Lee was waiting for us. He had plenty of time to walk us round introducing us to people and took me pitch side and the changing rooms etc. Sat in the same row as him on the padded seats in the Maine Stand for the match.

A few weeks later a parcel arrived at the door and it was a framed picture of Francis Lee which goes to show what a top bloke he was. It made me sick to see the protests to force him out every week after how well he treated my family that day.

I used to work in a solicitors office. we had a ex everton youth footballer client suing everton for mistreating an injury. I also met andy dibble in our waiting room but he'd been a naughty boy so I left him alone. I think he was innocent anyways.

I also saw ajay buing sweets in gorton ;)

I got a call to complain about my son after a game he'd played in, he was seven at the time.

He said "It's Mike hear" and went on about what happened. At first I gave a bit of lip back about leaving my son alone, and I asked for his full name, he said it's Mike Doyle

I said "What, like the City player?"

"Yes. I was the city player"

I was knocked off my feet and I just said "Well look, Mr Doyle, next time, you just give him a slap round the ear, and please tell me what was it like scoring in the league cup final to put us into extra time"

And he did!

Extremely nice fella.

met more or less every current city player, united player and have got to know a few of them, all down to earth. i think they are in too much of the media to be act like dicks, so when you see some player in the news for doing this an that...no names, cough gerrard cough, they must be REAL assholes.

I went to watch Burnley play in a friendly out here in California last night.
Ran into Stephen Jordan, introduced myself as a City fan "So am I" he said.
"Once a blue always a blue" I replied.
"Oh yeah" he agreed.

I know the name probably gives it away, but were are you living in Cal .. mate?

LOL, actually not in Hollywood. Only a few miles from Hollywood, but Simi Valley Blue doesn't have the same ring to it and California Blue was taken.

Met Niall Quinn on a flight from Manchester to Dublin a few years back. Just been to see us vs Birmingham I think at Maine Road. Got him to sign my "King of the Kippax" fanzine... asked him to sign it "from the REAL king of the kippax" but he was too modest and just signed best wishes or something. Nice chap.

Must say, I found that story about the guy patting robinho on the arse a fucking scream lol :)

I went to the Midland Gym in Manchester, and as I opened the changing room door, I heard an "ooghh" from the other side. I'd hit Peter Beardsley in the face with the door. Had his two lads with him. Nice bloke, did'nt bat an eyelid!

Also watched Mike Tyson training there .... until he turned round whilst skipping and started to try and stare me out, whilst moving closer and closer (I was the only spectator .. breach of security and all that).
Boy o boy, can he stare! "Got to go Mike, back to work" I said, and hobbled away as fast as I could!

I can't remember Tyson playing for the blues, which position did he play?
