Anyone here work for BT?

Still going round in circles with TalkTalk, have spoken to people in South Africa, Manilla, Mumbai, same old bullshit stock answers, if this is privatisation, give me the GPO any day !!
Moved house whilst in contract with these idiots, promises made about my fibre optic being up and running on the day of the move, It wasn't of course, took a week to get normal internet and they told me another 4 week to get fibre.

I tried to cancel my contract a couple of days later, the tele operative could not understand English and just kept going on about talk talk tv....I rang back managed to cancel and a week later 2 talk-talk tv boxes arrived and no cancelation

Virgin are my broadband provider, and they're currently doing my head in! Been with them since Christmas, excellent WiFi reception, suddenly over the weekend the WiFi coverage dropped to a point where, despite the devices (phone, laptop, TV etc) all saying they have a limited connection, in reality they are not connected and nothing works! Phoned them up and, 5 calls down the line at this point, and probably 3.5 hours of my life gone, it's still not working. The house is being provided with internet as, if I connect to the hub via an Ethernet cable the internet connection is perfect, it's just the WiFi that's fecked. They've had me reset the hub numerous times, they've connected to, and changed, the channels the hub connects to, they've remotely accessed my laptop, deleted some settings, reconfigured the hub etc, and none of it works. At which point they decided they could do no more. Their diagnosis? "The hub needs moving closer to the devices, and buy a booster". My argument that it had worked fine for months, and suddenly all crashed, likely means that neither of those will fix it, and that I'd stood a foot away from the hub with my laptop and still not connected, were basically just ignored! They essentially told me "nothing we can do to fix it, oh, and if you try to switch to another provider there's a several hundred pound early cancellation fee, and you've got to wait 30 days". I kicked off and now there's a tech coming out to my house tomorrow to test things and bring a replacement hub to see if that's broken. So there IS something you can do, but you just weren't willing to do it then?

What are you in? Will have a look

Finally got it going

Technical question please

I've retained my old Talk Talk e mail address (as I have done every time I've changed providers)
I can receive e mails in my Outlook folder but can't send

I've changed the "SMPT" outgoing setting to what BT have told me "mail.btinternet.com" but I still cannot send

Anyone any idea what to do to resolve this?

Been with BT Broadband since it was rolled out and have the Sports pack plus a few other channels. Not had a problem with it unless they are adding a new customer at the DSLAM which slows it down a bit for a few hours. Other posters are correct when they say after sales service is crap. I've been trying to get onto a better deal for broadband (current deals are half the price!) but just get the run around, try this number but no answer etc. Might have to cancel completely and resign up if I can keep the same e-mail address.
Oh! and Michael fucking Owen as well.

Was with BT but switched to Sky 4 years ago. I don't have Sky tv, only broadband with unlimited free UK calls. In all that time my broadband has never gone offline and I get a download speed of 21 mbs, all for £21 per month. I call them each year when my one year contract expires and negotiate a price for the following year. I find them very easy, efficient and pleasant to deal with.

I do not like what their company stands for, but I cannot complain about the service I receive or the price I pay.

This is the thing with BT, they are actually pretty reliable and don't have that many problems compared to someone like TalkTalk. You only get into trouble if there actually is a problem and something needs fixing, then they are the worst company in the world.
Yes, I've had BT Broadband since 2002 and on the whole had very few issues with it. Agree re the help line though, it can take a couple of hours to get through. The latest BT Desktop Help app is pretty good at sorting temporary drops in the b/band signal.
