Anyone here work for BT?

Dumped Sky because they were ripping me off, moved over to talktalk with a reasonably priced package, activated just over 3 week ago, only problem is, it just isn't working.
Been in contact every 48 hrs with the same stock answer " Sorry, we'll fix it, no need to ring us back" ! Trying now to cancel, same problems being passed from pillar to post.
Yes dd they're all crap! Bring back the GPO !!!

Virgin are my broadband provider, and they're currently doing my head in! Been with them since Christmas, excellent WiFi reception, suddenly over the weekend the WiFi coverage dropped to a point where, despite the devices (phone, laptop, TV etc) all saying they have a limited connection, in reality they are not connected and nothing works! Phoned them up and, 5 calls down the line at this point, and probably 3.5 hours of my life gone, it's still not working. The house is being provided with internet as, if I connect to the hub via an Ethernet cable the internet connection is perfect, it's just the WiFi that's fecked. They've had me reset the hub numerous times, they've connected to, and changed, the channels the hub connects to, they've remotely accessed my laptop, deleted some settings, reconfigured the hub etc, and none of it works. At which point they decided they could do no more. Their diagnosis? "The hub needs moving closer to the devices, and buy a booster". My argument that it had worked fine for months, and suddenly all crashed, likely means that neither of those will fix it, and that I'd stood a foot away from the hub with my laptop and still not connected, were basically just ignored! They essentially told me "nothing we can do to fix it, oh, and if you try to switch to another provider there's a several hundred pound early cancellation fee, and you've got to wait 30 days". I kicked off and now there's a tech coming out to my house tomorrow to test things and bring a replacement hub to see if that's broken. So there IS something you can do, but you just weren't willing to do it then?

The real issue with BT is BT Openreach.

Missed appointment after missed appointment. No calls, no communication at all and they couldn't give a fuck as you can't contact them you have to contact BT who haven't got a Fucking clue half the time or they are sick of making excuses for the cunts.

Matty see if you can get a free wifi analyser app for your phone that will let you check channel graph or rating. that will tell you what is the best channel on the wifi to use as the one you're on could be overloaded. If it is switching should help, and "should" be pretty easy to do on the router, you want the channel with least networks on or crossing it. My app looks like this so I'd go for channel 1 or 14 if this was how it looked at my house.

Cheers, I'll give it a go, although the technical (no) support team switched channels multiple times for me, and the signal was shite on all the ones they tried. The strange thing is why, all of a sudden, it's gone from perfect signal with very fast connect to almost none existent signal with zero ability to connect. All I can assume is the hub has developed some kind of fault within it's ability to actually convert the signal received through the cable into a WiFi signal and transmit it. Nothing else has changed, same location for the hub and devices, no new equipment to interfere, no new neighbours who might be using devices that conflict with my signal etc.

ahhh sorry mate, I'd read reset as resent and thought they had sent you different hubs out. I've had the same issue tbh with them, got a couple of laptops and tablets in the house that always have shite connection although they are mainly used for facebook and its shite games so having a dodgy signal keeps the broadband clear for me when Im gaming so Ive not sorted it haha

Talktalk are a pain in the fucking arse. Trying to get sense out of them is on a hiding to nowhere. Give me British gas or sky anyday.

Just switched all my stuff over to BT and it couldn't have been easier. Not lost connection once and all my other things connected with my network automatically. Faultless so far.

It should be legal to kill BT staff after a certain amount of time asking them to fix things but its a long way to India so I guess internet moaning will have to do

For Now

This is the thing with BT, they are actually pretty reliable and don't have that many problems compared to someone like TalkTalk. You only get into trouble if there actually is a problem and something needs fixing, then they are the worst company in the world.
