we will be back in for kaka for sure. My feeling is that he wanted to come, but then as cook said, they bottled it due to the fans reactions. Maybe kaka or berlusconi got death threats off fans and decided to not go ahead with the deal. If kaka didnt want to come to us then why would it have taken him like 2 weeks to say it??? he could have just said this the next morning after our bid, just like eto did when it was rumoured we had a bid for him. So.... imo kaka wanted to come, and was about to come, only thing was the reaction of the fans....

To be faur I don't think kaka had a say in any of it, realistically why wouldn't he want to come to our project, I think it is something a lot of players will be trying to get on board with, I also think he said he stayed due to fan because he wasn't going anywhere anyway. Their president is in parliament etc. over there and it is blatant that he wouldn't be like, or maybe voted in, if he sold kaka. It was nothing to do with football and more about the popularity vote.

I'll stick with the general point made by OB1, or was it...I forget...that Mourinho is arguably one of the top five managers in the world, and Hughes inarguably is not in the top twenty. Did I get that right?

Agreed. I made a comment a good few pages back that whilst I believe hughes will become a very good manager we cannot overlook the chance to get the most sought after Manager in Europe to take us forward (probably faster than initial plan but if the chance arises grab it).

Still trying to work out which 4 players have already agreed to come if Jose does.......

I agree. It would be a very courageous* decision to keep MH if Mourinho is serious aboutwanting to come to us.

* - In the 'Yes, Minister' sense of the word.
