Anyone really missing Nige DJ ?

Like the guy but he wasn't any use to us anymore in the prem really. Only really useful for the odd champions league away game. Too small, weak, immobile and not positive enough

Can anyone recall what the early reviews of him in early 2009 were? Just to compare them with Garcia now. Was he an instant hit - or were the comments along the lines of - who is this guy who just passes it sideways and never looks like scoring?

No i dont recall him doing a really good job last seaon like Barry. The lad made it clear he didnt want to stay last season.

He was nothing special for his first 6 months or so and was written off by some like Garcia is being now. BTW I think Garcia could turn out even better than De Jong did for us if given time to settle which I imagine he will be considering how much he cost.

I think he will undoutably be one of those players we look back during certain times in the next few years and wonder why we let him go.
Not only with his performances but his attitude was just below that of Zabaleta's and everyone loved him!

missing him? I wouldn't say so. He's a decent player, I just prefer Barry much more. Or even Garcia.

Thought he may have made a slight difference against Dortmund.
and Madrid, and Bayern away last season and Chelsea away last season...Barry can't cope against very quick midfielders or quick passing midfielders of the highest level whereas it doesn't phase de Jong at all.
