Anyone want us to go out of the Europa League on Thursday?

I'll be at the game cheering the lads on as usual, but I wouldn't be especially devastated if we went out. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see us win it. But there are a lot of games in the Europa League and I'd prefer us to concentrate our efforts on the FA Cup and getting 4th.

Being Dynamo fan I'd love Man City to leave current European season at this stage, though frankly speaking I can't understand how Man City supporters question their participation in European cup (even though the 2d one in terms of importance).

Ok, I know that English fans prefer victory in Premier League to EUROPA LEAGUE (CWC and UC before that). Champions League stands alone as the top of European football.

Some people here are talking about importance of FA Cup and 4th place in PL in order to get into Champions League next year. Ok, CL is the best cup with decent income and prestige.

But think about real strength of current Europa League:

Benfica - most probably will be in CL next year
Paris Saint-Germain - most probably will be in CL next year
Dynamo Kyiv - will be in CL qualification which I'm pretty sure we'll win (if we are luck in current championship - then in group stage)
Manchester City - I'm sure you will be high enough in PL to go into CL
Twente
Zenit St. Petersburg - already in group stage Champions League 2011-12
CSKA Moscow -already in group stage for Champions League 2011-12
Porto - will be in group stage of CL next year
PSV Eindhoven - will be in group stage of CL next year
Rangers - qualifications for CL, I guess
Bayer Leverkusen - group stage of CL
Villarreal
Ajax - qualifications for CL
Spartak Moscow
Braga
Liverpool

Plus Borussia Dortmund that will win current German championship - they didn't manage to get out of the death group with PSG and Sevillia in current EL.

So 11 out of current Europa league final 16 will be in Champions League next year.
I guess that's good enough to test Man City's real strength.

frankly i'm not interested in "test" currently City strengh. i'm interested in get the CL spot , then in summer City can improve their strengh

I will be pissed if we don't put in a decent performance on Thursday. Don't think we can, or should pick and choose at the thick end of the season, it's going to be tough and wouldn't mind going out if we did our best, but to throw the towel in would be fatal for confidence and moral.

Fair enough, though there are two major questions in grabbing CL vase just like that:
1) UEFA rating. The major issue.
( <a class="postlink" href="http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2011.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uef ... k2011.html</a> )

Man City will be #38, thus seeded in pot #3 (best case) or 4.

2) Experience. Playing against Barca or RealM is no joke, they are no Lech, Juve (in current conditions) or even DynamoK.

i'd play a reserve team and go out.

europa league is shit , no money , no interest , just fatigue and injuries.

Agreed.

I will however be in the stadium cheering the boys on, just won't be overly upset if we go out.

Win/Win imo.

Feel exactly the same.

the UEFA rating thing have a sense , but i believe you can agree with me that if we even should win the europa league and get a better ranking without then get the CL spot it wouldnt be a great deal.

the experience thing instead is nothing , we have a few already experinced and other we will buy in summer , so we currently may be giving experience to some average players that we get rid of in summer.
